You Are What You Wear (Part Two)
By Elaine Seiler

In my last post, I talked about the importance of each piece of clothing and all the accessories we choose as contributing factors in the creation of the signature vibration of each and every one of you. Let me share a story to further explicate this concept.

One of the most fascinating expressions of the energies present in color and clothing I have ever witnessed was in Chiapas, Mexico. Outside the city of San Cristobal de las Casas, there are six or seven villages, each with its own distinct culture, dress code, predominant color, and corresponding feeling tone. In one village, I observed hot pink shirts and wraps, not just on the women, but on the men and children as well. Their village was clean and neat; the faces of the people radiated health and vitality. The village projected an air of abundance and well-being. Not ten minutes away, another village presented a totally different ambiance. The men, women, and children all wore dull charcoal gray wool clothing; their faces were drawn and weary. They seemed poor, undernourished, and ill; the buildings were rundown. I cannot say whether the color came before the condition or vice versa, but either way, the feeling was clear. The faster and lighter vibrations of the color pink and the slower and denser vibration of the dark gray were either affecting the energetic state of the villagers or reflecting the state of the village. Probably both! What a powerful reflection of the power of color, and its effect.

I invite you to try the following exercise to verify the power of this energy. Gather or buy a handful of small scarves of different colors (and textures, if possible.). Then, over the course of the next few days, wear one around your neck, or even attached to your pocketbook or briefcase. You can change scarves during the day, allowing yourself to be drawn to the most appropriate color for that morning, event, or meeting. Experiment with choosing the ‘wrong’, i.e., less appropriate or less energetically resonant one, just to experience the shift in vibrations. (It may match your outfit, but be energetically wrong for the activity or field you are in.) Wear that scarf for ten minutes or several hours, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you focus your attention on its effect and become fluent in the vibrational language of color.

The same exercise can be done with your jewelry. The choice of gold vs. silver, amethyst vs. turquoise, translucent vs. opaque gemstones--all contribute to the vibration you project into the world. (And all you men – remember that pink and purple shirts and colorful ties are now in style, so this exercise is for you as well.)

Have fun creating the most powerful vibrational field you can, and have an energetically conscious and balanced day!
