RACE 1 – JOHN MCKENNA RACE NIGHT VET PACE – 2297 METRES

Shortly after the start TISU BOMBELLE which broke free of interference has now been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events. The filly then tired in the last lap to finish beaten 58 metres. TISU BOMBELLE underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an elevated heart rate and respiratory rate and a slower than normal recovery. Trainer Melissa Maine advised Stewards that it was her intention to have follow up veterinary testing done and has undertaken to advise Stewards of the results of those tests. TISU BOMBELLE has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

LASTCHANCETOSMILE which began dropping out from the 800 meters underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer Keith Toulmin reported that in his opinion the filly was in season which may have contributed to the poor performance. She has been stood down from racing for a period of 10 day and a satisfactory trial for tiring.

Driver Michael Laugher (METRO MOUSE) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(1) for using his whip in a freehand manner prior to the 200 meters on six occasions. Mr Laugher was fined the sum of $200.

TIMELY SOVEREIGN had a tendency to hang in around the home turn and contacted two marker pegs whilst doing so.

RACE 2 – KG & PL REDPATH TRUCK BACKHOE & EXCAVATOR HIRE NORTH WEST PLATE FINAL – 2286 METRES

As the start was effected on the first occasion the tapes became entangled in the legs of NEXT SOUND and a false start was called.

As the start was affected on the second occasion DAYS LIKE THIS stood flat footed, as a result NEXT SOUND shifted around that mare and DAYRAID, CHRISTIAN JAZ NZ, YOUNG BRUISER and BUMBLE DON were all inconvenienced. DAYS LIKE THIS has been placed on its last chance in the draw.

MONARCO PLAYBOY was held up for a run rounding the home turn and early in the home straight.

RACE 3 – MAXFIELD DRILLING LATROBE CUP DIVISION ONE – 2297 METRES

Michael Laugher was approved as a late driver replacement on MASTER CHARLIE due to driver James Austin being unable to get to the course due to a vehicle breakdown.

WHO IS HARDEEN gave ground from the 500 meters, CEMENTO RAPIDO and ERCOLE were inconvenienced for a short distance behind the tiring WHO IS HARDEEN.

Stewards inquired into the circumstances surrounding GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS getting off the peg line leaving the back straight on the first occasion. After taking evidence from drivers Erin Holloway (GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS) and Ricky Duggan (BONES JONES) Miss Holloway was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(b). In not taking further action Stewards considered GOTTALOVEFRIDAYS was racing ungenerously at that same stage whilst being restrained.

BISPING which pulled hard in the score up then hung in and broke under pressure on the home turn has been placed on its last chance to race truly.

A post-race swab was taken from BONES JONES winner of the event.

RACE 4 – ROBERTS RURAL SUPPLIES MOBILE – 2297 METRES

There was a slight delay to the start of the event due to Singapore thoroughbred race running behind schedule.

ALPINION broke just after the start was affected and has been placed out of the draw for future mobile start events.

WESTERN DESTROYER has been placed back in the mobile draw.

LAST GUY STANDING was inconvenienced after the start by the galloping ALPINION. Racing into the back straight on the final occasion LAST GUY STANDING raced rough and lost ground inconveniencing CASCADE FLYER and WESTERN DESTROYER which locked wheels. CASCADE FLYER then broke.

Subsequent to the race trainer Melissa Maine (LAST GUY STANDING) reported that a hopple shortener cord had become entangled around the gelding’sright hind leg. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the skin and hair had been rubbed off the front of the gelding’s right hind hock, however the gelding was not found to be lame.

RACE 5 – FROTHY FRIDAY ON THE DECK PACE – 2297 METRES

Craig Hayes was approved as a late driver replacement for James Austin who was unable to get to the course due to a vehicle breakdown.

The head check of JERRYS JET became detached during the race.

CRANBRE which tired from the 700 meters to be beaten 66 meters has been placed on its last chance to race truly. Trainer Julie Johnson advised that she had of late been doing beach work with the gelding and was disappointed in the poor performance adding that blood tests had been taken in the days after the race to try and ascertain a reason for the poor run. A chiropractic examination will also be done and an undertaking was given to inform Stewards of any findings prior to again racing.

Driver Paul Ashwood (DODGERMEMATE) was reminded of his obligations relating to whip carriage.

RACE 6 – MITAVITE MARES INCENTIVE – 2297 METRES

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Bradley Walters who advised that due to a vehicle breakdown MAVIS MERLE would be unable to be transported to the race track, Stewards ordered that mares scratching at 5.15pm. A 28 stand down was applied and was reduced to six days when a mechanics certificate was produced within the stipulated two working days.

This race was slightly delayed due to Sky Channel being late to cross to the venue.

As the start was effected FUSCIENNE shifted out slightly towards WEONA MASTERPIECE which was slightly inconvenienced. After working early FUSCIENNE then tired over the concluding stages.

IDEAL DISTRACTION broke free of interference racing off the back straight on the final occasion. The mares near hind hopple loop then slipped down below her left hind hock causing her to stumble whilst galloping. IDEAL DISTRACTION has been placed on her last chance to race truly for breaking.

RACE 7 – HARDINGS HOTMIX MOBILE – 1930 METRES

CHICA BELLA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent abnormalities were detected.

TINAS TIME tired to finish beaten 129 meters and underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have muscle pain and be reactive in its gluteal muscles. The mare has been stood down from racing for 10 days and the completion of a satisfactory trial.

MY MATE TYSON has been placed back in the mobile draw.

Stewards inquired into the loose reining and whip use of driver Nicholas Brockman (THIRLSTANE KING) over the last 750 meters of the race. After hearing evidence from Mr Brockman a charge against him under AHRR 156(3)(b) was sustained for excessive whip use and in determining penalty took into consideration his not guilty plea, his level of driving experience and also the number of whip strikes which Stewards considered to be excessive. Mr Brockman was fined the sum of $200. Mr Brockman was also reprimanded pursuant to AR 162(1)(vv) for loose reining.

RACE 8 – NWTLHA CUP – 2645 METRES

RAJAH WEALTH was fractious before the start contributing to the delay in the start. The gelding will be placed out of the draw for standing starts.

PHILTRA PHELLA which was also somewhat fractious before the start, before being slowly out and will continue to be placed out of the draw.

BLACK CENTURIAN was held up and was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

Driver John Walters (RIVERBOAT JASPER) was reprimanded for careless driving under AHRR 168(1)(a) for shifting the manner in which he shifted PHILTRA PHELLA racing off the back straight on the final occasion.

RAJAH WEALTH was momentarily held up for racing room rounding the home turn.

RACE 9 – COLLINS HOME PACE DIVISION TWO – 2297 METRES

TERRORCAM which broke after the start and then again in running to finish distanced has been stood down from racing for 10 days and the completion of a satisfactory trial. The gelding also underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed severe muscle pain in its gluteal muscles. Connections must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness to race before the gelding can trial.

Driver Keith Toulmin was reprimanded pursuant to AR 162(1)(vv) for loose reining.

Driver Kate McLeod pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 156(3)(b) for her excessive whip use, the particulars being that she used the whip continuously from the back straight with an excessive number of whip strikes. Miss McLeod was fined the sum of $200.

A post-race swab sample was taken from BLACK SADDLE, winner of the event.

Stewards inquired into the reasons for MY MATE NICK shifting approaching the home straight on the final occasion. After taking evidence from driver Mark Yole who explained that the gelding had pulled during the run whilst leading and had also had a tendency to strike the near side wheel during that time which Mr Yole contended contributed to the geldings shifting. After taking evidence from Mark Yole and Kate McLeod (BLACK SADDLE) Mr Yole was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 162(1)(ww). In determining penalty it was considered that BLACK SADDLE was not disadvantaged by the shift nor did another runner gain an advantage.

RACE 10 – 7AD PACE – 2286 METRES

BYMARJAC shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

TIZYALATOR which galloped out will continue to be out of the draw.

A post-race swab sample was taken from TIZYALATOR.

ME MATE LES was held up rounding the home turn and early in the home straight.
