II. Approval of August Meeting Minutes / B. Amodeo made a motion to approve the June 2016, meeting minutes. JM Pierobon seconded the motion. August 2016, minutes were approved.
III. Approval of amended By-laws / Edits were requested regarding the definition of : Active Member- Attends at least 9 meetings per year …
(Cannot miss more than three meetings per year… ) There were no other changes recommended/discussed. By-Laws are now in place. / One change noted in parenthesis.
IV. Presentation: Point of Sale (POS) Survey Results-Nadia Willy, Florida Department of Health-Broward / Presentation of survey results of store assessments that occurred during the 2016 calendar year. The POS survey monitored tobacco retailer density. Retailer density Is measured as the number of retailers per 1,000 individuals. The results determine the number of individuals exposed to tobacco marketing at the point of sale using the 4 P’s (Price, Promotion, Product, and Placement). Counter tools provided an interactive map of various geographic locations to include retailer density and proximity to areas where youth are more likely to “hangout” thus being increasingly exposed to tobacco advertising. / K. Fernandez will provide TFP members with a copy of presentation by N. Willy.
V. Presentation: Tobacco Prevention Training for Educators –Brian Dawson, Palm Beach County Schools/Safe Schools Division / Presentation on the free training opportunity to Department Of Education (DOE) certified educators. Training is available online and includes points towards certificate renewal. Training is currently not available to individuals who are not DOE certified. Pre-registration is August 11/2016 through June 6, 2017. The website for enrollment is www.tobaccopreventiontraining.org
VI. Old Business/Follow-up /
- TFP breakfast feedback and venue reservation. Thank you again to Holy Cross Hospital for their generosity.
- Final image of TFP Palm Cards with requested edits. Copies were distributed. Great job!!!

- Presentation from TFP at American Cancer Society Volunteer Leadership Board meeting, November 2, 2016.
- E. Feiler provided information on Tobacco Retailer inspections with FDA for opportunity for Youth to earn income. – See ISN Corp.com –Youth Tobacco Inspector
- E. Feiler has completed the letter to the President of the United States (with a copy to the Vice President) (from the partnership)concerning unregulated cigars coming into this country from Cuba.
