South Korea – Virtual Field Trip

Instructions and Activity

This activity isfor a freshman college student’s English 101 class in the USA.

Introduction:

Welcome to this virtual tour of South Korea. I hope you will learn a lot about this fascinating country and will take the opportunity to use what you’ve learned to plan your own trip to Korea. You will have a full seven days in Korea with which to explore some of the places you will see on the tour. It is your choice where you go and what you do! Just plan your itinerary before you go!

Instructions:

  1. Read through each of the four locations in Korea and their subcategories.
  2. Watch the videos and check linked websites contained within certain sections.
  3. As you assimilate the information in its many forms, begin thinking about what you’d like to visit on your real trip. Think about what you’d see and experience, what you’d eat, where you’d stay. You do NOT have to use only the recommended locations of the tour. If something else catches your eye along the way, feel free to add these to your schedule.
  4. When you’ve finished reading and watching, skip to page two of this document and start completing your journal itinerary. In it, you’ll create a daily plan for your 7-day trip based on what you’ve seen and read. What will you do? Where will you go? What will you see and eat? Where will you stay? How will you get there? How long will you stay? Start with the morning and progress thru the afternoon and evening.
  5. Be thoughtful and creative in making your plan. You’re free to divide up your 7 days however you wish. If you’d like to stay 7 days in Seoul, that’s fine (though I hope you’ll want to see more). Just be sure each day is busy!
