SUBJECT:Asbestos Removal- Stamford High School

This is to inform you that from Tuesday, September 13, 2016, through Friday, December 30, 2016, (2:30PM – 10:00PM, Mondays through Fridays) we will be removing approximately 2,000 linear feet of exterior caulking compounds associated with window lintels, 3 square feet of exterior window glazing compound(Mechanical Room 617), 2,000 square feet of black tar paper under coping stone at parapet walls, 6,000 linear feet of exterior horizontal caulking compounds below coping stone, and 2,000 square feet of black flashing/tar and black underlayment associated with the barrel roof parapet walls at Stamford High School. Work will be conducted during the dates noted above unlessthe conditions limited to inclement weather (rain/snow) and or high winds pose interference to perform work in a safe manner.

Asbestos abatement activities are also scheduled to be performed during scheduled student early release days from 11:30AM-10:00PM on the following days:

  • Wednesday, September 28, 2016
  • Wednesday, October 26, 2016
  • Wednesday, November 23, 2016
  • Wednesday, November 30, 2016

Asbestos abatement activities are also scheduled to be performed during scheduled no student occupancy/holidays from 6:00AM-10:00PM on the following days:

  • Monday and Tuesday, October 3-4, 2016 (Rosh Hashanah)
  • Monday, October 10, 2016 (Columbus Day)
  • Wednesday, October 12, 2016 (Yom Kippur)
  • Tuesday, November 8, 2016 (Election Day)
  • Friday, November 11, 2016 (Veterans Day)
  • Friday, November 25, 2016 (Thanksgiving recess)

Please be advised that all work will be conducted within the Federal and State regulations for proper asbestos abatement procedures. During this project the asbestos abatement contractor will be monitored by an industrial hygiene firm, Fuss & O’Neill EnviroScience, LLC located at 56 Quarry Road in Trumbull, Connecticut (Contact Person/Project Manager; Eduardo Miguel Marques, (203) 374-3748).

The licensed asbestos abatement contractor (CT license number 000017) will be A.A.I.S. Corp of West Haven, Connecticut (Contact Person/Project Manager; Mr. Jim Reilly, (203) 932-2992).

This letter was prepared and is being forwarded to parents, administrators, building occupants, teachers, and staff of Stamford High School prior to asbestos removal activities as required by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Please post this notice in the area of abatement, on the main entrance to the school, in staff break room, and distribute to all staff and parents
