Job Description
HLS anticipates a requirement for a devoted, committed and experienced Grades 8, 9, & 10 class teacher and invites application from qualified candidates. This is a yearly renewable position commencing August, 2009.
The candidate will not only teach all required subjects but will research and review existing programs and curriculum in Aboriginal workplace thus aiming at upgrading HLS to grades 11 and 12
Requirements/Qualifications:
A Bachelor or a Diploma in Education
ü Outstanding research and curriculum development skills
ü Excellent communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
ü Experience working with Aboriginal communities
ü Knowledge of First Nation Culture or Language, respect for First Nations Lifestyle, and potential.
ü HLS values teaching and we expect you to be an exemplary teacher, to be current in your discipline; to engage students actively in their own learning, including discussion, writing, and analysis, and to maintain high standards regarding course content
ü HLS expects you to provide students with feedback on their class work and examinations/class-tests, and to be available to students through regular hours
ü We expect you to have your students evaluate your courses/classes using the standard HLS evaluation form and to make those evaluations available to the Principal for Semester/annual review.
ü Preferably a holder of BCCT/Education Ministry of Victoria certification.
