POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Missions Minister/Other

POSITION CONCEPT: Responsible to the Pastor and Executive Pastor and works under the supervision of the Executive Pastor in planning, coordinating, promoting, and evaluating the Missions Ministry of the church. The Missions Ministry is considered 2/3 of the position. In order for the position to be full-time, this position will also lead in another area of ministry, possibly senior adults or pastoral care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with and serve as staff liaison with Missions Committee regarding mission funding and work of church.
  1. Pursue and give guidance to ongoing mission opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.
  1. Plan, coordinate and lead on-going local mission opportunities for our congregation.
  1. Communicate mission opportunities church-wide, and especially in Bible Study.
  1. Support mission trips, helping with planning (as needed) with other ministry departments (children, student, music etc.).
  1. Network to discover potential partnerships for FBC with affinity groups that could allow us to serve local community better.
  1. Build working relationships with CCA (a local benevolence ministry).
  1. Coordinate, interview, and oversee dispensing of funds for local benevolence situations, working with the Deacon Crisis team in areas requiring more than $100 of assistance.
  1. Continue and improve our international work, currently in Guatemala and France.
  1. Continue and improve our work with local ministries, including Chin ministry.
  2. Provide mission education opportunities for our membership so they can better engage in our work.
  3. Work with Missions Committee to assure the missions giving allotments by the church are always well used and reflect our commitments.
  1. Assist members who are discerning and following a call to serve God in mission work (whether vocationally and/or a onetime experience).
  1. Lead in another area of pastoral ministry, depending on skills and giftedness.

Other General Responsibilities:

1.  Maintain a spiritual example as a follower of Christ.

2.  Cooperate with the Executive Pastor and other staff members in promoting the entire ministry plan of the church.

3.  Serve as a staff liaison to Missions Committee and Christian Life and Ministries team.

4.  Assist in budget planning and management for Missions and Senior Adult Ministry.

5.  Attend weekly staff meeting.

6.  Attend and participate in the Leadership Council.

7.  Complete outreach assignments weekly as assigned.

8.  Discharge other responsibilities as assigned by the Pastor or Executive Pastor.
