OFFICIAL GUIDELINESOverview of Research Award
The advancement of healthcare is a key goal of the hospital group. While state of the art care is delivered to patients, there is also a need to develop new approaches to help patients with conditions of unmet medical need. The Research Award will be given to one individual or team who have made a substantive contribution to research within the Saolta University Health Care Group. The award recognises a person or team whose research and findings have improved patient / staff safety; patient care and experience; or quality of service in line with the Group’s Guiding Values. Either an individual or a team may be nominated for this award. A team is comprised of three or more team members, including the Team Leader and can be cross functional or work-unit based, but within a clinical area. If nominating a team, one person on the team must be designate as Team Leader. The Team Leader is responsible for leading the team, disseminating CEO Award’s information and accepting the award on behalf of the team.
Criteria
Nominees of the Research Award will be evaluated according to the following criteria
1. Relevance - How this research addressed a clinical or academic area important to the hospital group
2. Effectiveness - Outcomes related to clinical care, quality, service provision, financial or safety
3. Academic impact -Academic impact in relation to publications/ journals/presentations, national or international
4. Transferability - How this research can be transferred, implemented or applied to other departments group wide.
Requirements and Eligibility
1. The Principal nominee(s) must be part-time or full-time, and actively employed with the Saolta University Health Care Group for at least six months on or before the closing date for nomination.
2. Volunteers are not eligible for this award.
3. Nominees can be any grade/level of staff.
4. Nominees must not have any performance/disciplinary issues within the past year.
5. Nominees must exemplify Saolta University Health Care Group’s Mission and Vision Statements and Guiding Value’s.
Clinical Director / Senior Management Endorsement
In order to be eligible for the Award, the nominee(s) must seek endorsement from management as follows:
1. If it is an individual nomination, endorsement must be sought from the nominee’s line manager.
2. If it is a team nomination and the team nominated are from the same clinical area, endorsement must be sought from that area’s clinical director.
3. If it is a team nomination and the team nominated are from the same non clinical area, endorsement must be received from the senior manager of the area.
4. If it is a team nomination and the team cross a number of areas or team members are of different positions, the team leader’s line manager must provide endorsement.
Submission Process and Instructions
For Department Heads & Nominators: All applications must be completed in full online no later than Monday 4st September 2015 at 5pm for consideration. Please note that supplementary materials are limited to three pages and may not include PowerPoint presentations.
Application Review Process
All applications will be reviewed by a Judging Panel which includes Saolta University Health Care Group Executive and Non-Executive members and leaders from outside the organisation.
