13th November 2017

Dear Parents

Events in the academy this week:

Netball Tournament – on Tuesday 7th November, children from across the academy attended a netball tournament. Our team was awarded the “Fair Play” certificate. Well done to the team!

Book Fair – This week children from across the academy have been running the school book fair. This has been a great opportunity for them to work with money, sell products and take responsibility for a very important area of school. They have raised £643!

Here are some quotes from the children who took part:

“I have really enjoyed being a helper at the book fair this week because I like to help out in school as I am a prefect.”

“It is an amazing experience and helps children to get into reading. What’s not to like?!”

NSPCC Assemblies – we have been visited by the NSPCC this week, and they have been delivering assemblies to the children about staying safe. This is part of our commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in the academy.

Remembrance Assembly – children in school led the remembrance assembly today in the academy. We were visited by a member of the armed forces. As always, the children in the academy did a very professional and respectful job of organising and presenting this very important assembly.

Upcoming events in the academy

After school performances: Please note that we are not holding after school performances this year. This is because some parents last year made it clear that they were not happy with their children returning after school for performances, making it difficult to cast scripted parts.

PLEASE NOTE: we do ask that parents try not to bring babies or toddlers to these events. The children and staff have worked very hard to produce a performance for you, and it is very hard for them to perform when babies / toddlers are crying. If you do bring babies we would request that if they make a disruption to the productions that you take them out of the hall to calm down.

Playground donations

Our new senior Lunch Time Supervisor Ms Pyrah has asked if parents would have a look to see whether they are able to donate any of the following materials for children to use at lunchtime:

Dressing up materials – e.g. hats, handbags, t shirts, wigs, material, shoes. They do not need to be complete outfits or costumes, just items of clothing, adult or children’s for dressing up for imaginative play.

Toy cars, as our collection seems to be depleting over time.

Doll prams, dolls, colouring books, colouring materials.

If anyone is able to donate these items, please drop them off at reception. Please ensure any donations are in good condition, and suitable for children to use.

Yours sincerely

Mr S Walker

Principal
