What is 40 Days for Life?
40 Days for Life is a prayer campaign that helps reveal the consequences of abortion to local communities through the pillars of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil and community outreach.The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during this 40-day focused period to allow our prayer, fasting and peaceful activism to spread the Gospel of Life.
Through our peaceful vigil, we become visible signs of God’s presence and instruments of His mercy, helping create an environment that will enable all those struggling with the decision of abortion to embrace life and choose love. Through our prayer and fasting, we also seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion. Through our community outreach, we invite others to join in our prayer, fasting and peacefulvigil.
Where is 40 Days for Life Happening?
What started as a single campaign in College Station, Texas, is now a worldwide mobilization with campaigns happening in all 50 states and in over 100 cities around the world.
For New York City, the 40 Days for Life Campaign Vigil Site is the Public Right of Way across the street from the Planned Parenthood at 26 Bleecker Street in Manhattan. Please review the vigil guidelines, which can be found on line, before arriving at the vigil site.

Theme: Why be a witness?
Intention: For the conversion of hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life through the witness of love, compassion, humility in Jesus Christ
How can I get involved?
- Prayer and Fasting: Offer a Rosary, prayers and/or fasting intentionally during this 40-day period. It can be daily or weekly as an individual, with a prayer buddy or with a group.
- Peaceful Vigil: Visit sign up for one or more of the
1-hour vigil slots on the vigil calendar. Then come to the vigil site at that time to pray.
- Community Outreach: Invite friends and family to pray and fast with you. Also invite them to sign up for a vigil slot and join you. You can contact your parish or pastor and share this information.

Please offer a rosary/prayer and fasting especially on this day for our campaign prayer intention.Please also come and spend some time at the vigil site. A small "after work" group will gather around 7p to close the first day in prayer.
Sat, Oct 07 & Nov 04 –Witness for Life
Our day begins with 8am Mass at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. People can join in a Rosary procession to the Planned Parenthood vigil site or stay in the Church to adore our Lord. We will stand in quiet, peaceful prayer and then return to the Church around 10:15am for Benediction. A brief time of fellowship will follow at St. Patrick’s Parish House at 263 Mulberry Street.
Sat, Oct 14 – Frassati-Sponsored Vigil Day
Join the Frassati Fellowship from 8am – 8pm as volunteers pray throughout the day in shifts at the Planned Parenthood vigil site at 26 Bleecker Street.
