Position Title: Director, Extreme Tween Club (ETC)

Position Location: Family of GodLutheranChurch, Bremerton, WA

Terms of Employment: Part-time, 5 hrs per week, Salary DOE

1-year contract, which may be renewable.

Objective of the Position: To direct a Christian after-school program aimed at 4th – 6th graders (tweens) who attend schools located in our extended neighborhood. The goal is to provide a safe, friendly and enriching environment in which tweens will experience Christian faith and values through supervised activities, homework assistance/tutoring and small group Bible study/discussions. Our hope is to reach unchurched and non-Christian tweens and their familieswith the Gospel message, bringing them to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ,and to deepen the faith of churched tweens.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Administration of ETC

  1. Set-up calendar for year
  2. Organize scheduling of various activities each week
  3. Collect and/or createand teach Christian Education curriculum appropriate for both churched and unchurched tweens.
  4. Develop, distribute and maintain forms and records for participants, parents, and volunteers
  1. Recruit, train, supervise and work directly with ETC volunteers (adult and high/jrhigh school)
  2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and their parents
  3. Build and maintain positive connections with schools and various community programs
  4. Promote the ETC through schools, PTA and other media.
  5. Participate with tweens and volunteers in indoor and outdoor activities.
  6. Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

  1. A devoted follower of Christ, whose everyday life reflects their faith and commitment to living out God’s purposes through worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission
  2. Demonstrated love for kids
  3. Ability to plan and implement programs aimed at children
  4. Ability to supervise, motivate and work with people of diverse backgrounds and of all ages
  5. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  6. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions (must be teachable, open to growth and change)
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  8. Ability to respond effectively in crisis situation and utilize universal precautions to insure safety of students, other staff members and guests
  9. Basic first-aid and CPR certification (or acquire one within the 1st quarter)

Educational/Experience Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree is preferable, but equivalent work experience may be substituted. Must have some experience working in the Christian education/youth ministry field.

Supervision and evaluation:

  1. The ETC director will work directly with Extreme Tween Club Committee. Day to day supervision will be provided by the senior pastor.
  2. Performance reviews will be conducted by the ETC Committee (with input from the senior pastor) at 6 months and at the end of the school year
