Purpose:
This website is to display the skills learned in the Instructional Technology master’s degree program at the University of Akron. The site will help to explain my views on the areas of current technology standards, new ways of implementing technology into the classroom, TPACK, and how to develop technological practices. The website is geared to educational professionals, and other professionals interested in Instructional Technology. Utilizing the website will help to the viewer see how implement technology into their own classroom and curriculum. The viewer will gain a better understanding of educational goals and the standards that were put in place by an urban high school technology teacher.
Needs Assessment:
The University of Akron, The College of Education, has provided me with the opportunity to create this website to showcase the knowledge gained while participating in the master’s program of Instructional Technology. This website will demonstrate all the skills that I have gained though the hard work and help of the Akron University professors. The website will show that I have met the necessary standards that qualify students for graduation from the IT program. Examples of the integration of 21st century skills into my classroom and curriculum will be provided in the website. The e-Portfolio will be proof of my proficiency in the implementation of technology.
Audience:
The audience of this website will be The University of Akron faculty and advisors, as well as, other educational professionals. The University of Akron faculty and advisors will determine if the necessary skills have been obtained for graduation. They will also be available to provide feedback and suggestions. Other educational professionals may be interested in how I implement technology into my classroom and curriculum. Other viewers will be my Multimedia/Hypermedia classmates, as we will be presenting in an Elluminate Session at the end of the semester.
Content/Subject and its fit with web site goals:
The e-Portfolio website will provide documents that exemplify my understanding of the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers. These standards include facilitating and inspiring student learning and creativity, designing and developing digital-age learning experiences and assessments, modeling digital work and learning, promoting and modeling digital citizenship and responsibility, and engaging in professional growth and leadership.
Presentation of information:
The e-Portfolio will consist of an introduction of myself and my page and provide the viewer with my educational technology goals and philosophy. A current school picture will also provide the viewer a face to picture while reading the website. Tabs labeled Home, Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Design and Development, Professional Development, and Professional Resources and Best Practices, Links to Professional Sites. The page will have a brief summary of the category, along with examples and evaluations on how the examples were used. Usingand maintaining a consistent layout and color scheme throughout the website, and tabs will be in same order and location. Contact information will be displayed and link to email on every page.
Rationale for organization:
The purpose of the website is to provide a user friendly website that is easily navigated and all information is consistent and usable.
Media, acquisition or development, and rationale for using:
Incorporate pictures throughout my website that relate to each category will help the view have an idea of what the topic looks like in the classroom. These pictures will be taken by me or my students. Non copyrighted materials such as pictures clip art and videos will be used to aid in the viewer seeing the topics and materials. I will also include some form of audio in which I will introduce myself and my homepage. This will allow me to highlight my main points on my website and make my site more personal. Word documents and Adobe files will contain my artifacts..
Color scheme and rationale:
White background with a color scheme of Forest Green and Yellow Gold for all other items.
