Nau Mai! Haere Mai! Hoki Mai!

The Taumarunui Community Kokiri Trust once again invites you to participate in this year Maori Education Symposium. It’s a special one for our organisation as this will be our 5th Symposium since it began in 2009.

We have a great line-up of speakers including our two patrons Dr Rose Pere and Professor Wally Penetito, who always make the yearly trek to Taumarunui to support our event.

This year’s symposium is called “Walking the Talk” (Maori doing it for themselves).

Our speakers have been asked to share their knowledge and understanding of innovative and creative initiatives which support and validate Maori Language, Culture and Identity.

Speakers will also discuss whether such initiatives have made a difference to government policies and if there has been a shift in the way in which organisations and institutions advocate and validate Maori Culture, and Whanau-Hapu-Iwi aspirations.

We have chosen speakers who have research backgrounds and knowledge from a range of academic fields including Education, Justice, and Social Services. This year’s symposium offers the audience opportunities to engage and participate in presentations which are relevant to their working environments and experiences.

Registrations are now open and we look forward to seeing you all again this year.
