About this role

As Swim 22 Intern, you will be responsible for supporting admin tasks for our Swim 22 event, working closely with Diabetes UK colleagues and our partners Tesco. Furthermore you will be supporting the community & events team, notably the Swim 22 team with, processing registrations and supporting the participants in order to maximise their fundraising potential.

This would be an ideal role for anyone who is looking to gain some practical experience in the events sector and an insight into the daily workings of a top UK charity.

This is an exciting time to join Diabetes UK. We work with some of the leading national & international companies and you will play an important role in supporting the Diabetes UK events team to influence success of the Swim 22 event.

Diabetes UK is pioneering a new approach to spreading ideas in diabetes care and getting good practice into widespread use. A key role of the Community & Events team is to conduct high quality supporter care and innovative and successful in order to make a real difference to the lives of people with diabetes.

Reporting to

Todd Harris, Fundraising Events Manager

Hours

To be beneficial to both the volunteer and Diabetes UK, this internship will last 16 weeks, volunteering a minimum of 2 or3 days per week. Start date and volunteer hours are negotiable and can be agreed between the intern and manager

Expenses

We will reimburse all reasonable travel and lunch expenses.

The skills you need

  • A passion for events
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a charity or healthcare setting
  • Creativity and a willingness to confidently put forward new ideas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to the role for the duration of the internship.
