MyVoice: Comment on an existing Voicethread someone has shared with you

BROWSE

Browse through existing Voicethreads to learn about different topics. You may comment on any public voicethread. Just remember, they are monitored, so please make appropriate comments only.

There are several tutorials available in the Browse section. It would be smart to what What is a Voicethread and How to Comment on a Voicethread, if you need a little extra help.

CREATE

To create your own Voicethread, click on the Create tab. Follow a simple 3-step process: Upload your images or documents, Comment on them, and then Share.

1. Upload

You can upload images, videos, powerpoint presentations, and audio files. Simply click on the Upload button, navigate to where your files are saved, and then click Upload. Your images/files will appear on the right.

You can flip pictures or delete them. Use the arrows to rotate. You can also title each image by clicking on the words (add a title and link). To delete an image/file, click on the trash can icoon.

2. Comment

After you have uploaded all the images/files, click on 2. Comment. Record your voice or type in your thoughts. Use the same procedure you would use if you were commenting on someone else’s Voicethread.

**CREATE MULTIPLE IDENTITIES**

Click the identity icon to add an identity for each student if you choose. Alternately, you can leave it a generic identity name and have students put their own name in the tile and author section.

3. SHARE

The 3rd step to creating a Voicehtread is to Share it. You will see the following screen appear.

To invite a particular person, find their name and click once. A yellow line will encircle their tab. Then click the Invite button on the right.

For assignments, you should make all VoiceThreads PRIVATE. Comment Moderation should be turned OFF.

Very Important! Once you invite a person to a voicethread, they will have it until they delete it from their home page. You can make all the changes you want and it will automatically update. You do NOT need to share it again when you make changes.

Options

When you click on the Options button (right underneath the Share button), you will see the following screen:

Use the following settings: Give viewers at least 15 seconds before the show will advance to the next slide. Hide the final share page as this confuses people. They might think they need to share the page after they’ve commented. They don’t. Once a comment is made it updates automatically.

Lastlly, click on the Add a Title and Description tab (see it just below the yellow words Create). Here, you can add a description of the voicethread along with a title. “Tags” are words you put in for people who might search to find your voicethread. Since all voicethreads will be private, don’t worry about creating tags. You can leave them blank.

HELPFUL HINT: If you are running into trouble with Voicethread, one of the easiest ways to solve a problem is to refresh your browser (there should be a button on your toolbar).
