SCIS Moodle

  • The SCIS Moodle site is a web site where students submit their assignments and receive their grades and feedback
  • Programming assignmentswill not be given via Moodle. Assignments will appear throughout the semester on the class web site and be discussed in class
  • As each assignment is given, an upload link will appear on Moodle
  • The URL is

(Note that this is NOT the same as the FIU Moodle site: )

  • To log in, your Username is your FIU/Panthersoft user ID – something like bobam007 – and your Password is your seven-digit Panthersoft ID Number
  • SCIS Moodle also has a “Forum” feature for online discussions
  • Your Lab Supervisor/Tutor is the one who will be doing the grading, so contact him/her first if you have any questions about your grade
  • You are allowed to upload only a single file. Since programs will consist of multiple files, your upload will be a compressed “zip” file (with extension .zip). See “Creating a Zip File” online

No other kinds of compressed files will be accepted!

  • You are only allowed to upload the file one time! To ensure that you receive credit, it is your responsibility to do this correctly!
  1. Before creating the zip file, make sure your output is correct and your program and output meet all of the published specifications
  1. Before uploading the zip file, extract the individual files and examine them to make sure you have included all of the required files. Don’t forget to include the program output! Claims that you uploaded the wrong files or forgot to include the output cannot be processed
  1. After uploading the zip file, don’t forget to click the “Save Changes” button! Then, log out of Moodle, log back in and make sure the file is there! Claims that you uploaded an assignment but it mysteriously disappeared cannot be processed
  1. Failure to follow these simple directions may result in a loss of credit for the assignment.

Also note that while your individual grades on Moodle should be accurate, the course “average” is meaningless! This is because Moodle gives equal weight to each entry, whether lab, program, or test.

Your name may not appear on the Moodle site if you have registered late for the class. It may take a couple of days for Moodle to be updated
