As vice president of Operational Strategy & Business Intelligence (OSBI), Kevin Brookins is responsible for driving fundamental change throughout ComEd and providing a strategic foundation to address future business opportunities. ComEd has 5,600 employees serving about 3.8 million customers throughout Northern Illinoisand has revenues of approximately $5.8 billion.
Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC) is one of the nation’s largest electric utilities with approximately $19 billion in annual revenues. It has one of the industry’s largest portfolios of electricity generation capacity, with a nationwide reach and strong positions in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. Exelon distributes electricity to approximately 5.4 million customers in northern Illinois and Pennsylvania and natural gas to approximately 480,000 in the Philadelphia area. Exelon is headquartered in Chicago.
Professional History
Mr. Brookins is a versatile electric utility manager with 27 years of experience. He became vice president of OSBI in March 2010. Prior to this, he served in a number of key positions, including vice president, distribution system operations; vice president, work management & new business; vice president, customer field operations, for ComEd and PECO; director of construction and maintenance in ComEd’s Chicago Region; and director of regional operations in ComEd’s Southeast Region. His accomplishments include reducing the average outage duration and operating errors; improving New Business customer satisfaction ratings and meter read rates; and reducing employee injuries.
Mr. Brookins started his career in 1983 as a ComEd corporate planning analyst. He held various engineering positions and supervised design engineers, including reviewing and approving electric distribution facilities at Navy Pier and the UnitedCenter. As electric supplier services manager, he negotiated retail access rules with suppliers, consumer groups, and other interested parties at the Illinois Commerce Commission in preparation for retail customers choosing a supplier other than ComEd.
Honors
In 2008 and 2010, Mr. Brookins was selected by the editors of U.S. Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine as among the 100 Most Important Blacks in Technology. In 2008 he was selected by the editors of DiversityMBA Magazine as among the Top 100 Executives Under 50. In 2006, 2007, and 2010, he was recognized by Who’s Who in Black Chicago.
Civic Involvement
Mr. Brookins serves on the boards of LISC/Chicago and Chicago United. He became a Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago in 2003.

Mr. Brookins holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from HowardUniversity in Washington, D.C. and an MBA from GovernorsStateUniversity in University Park, Ill.
Family
Mr. Brookins resides in Olympia Fields, Ill., with his wife, Melonese, daughter, Courtney, and son, Kyle.
