Deb Brydon is a primary music specialist who has returned to music teaching after working as a Senior Project Writer with Education Queensland’s Curriculum into the Classroom project, writing for Music and The Arts.

Deb has taught primary school music for nearly 20 years in both Charters Towers and Brisbane. Deb has been an accredited do-re-mi teacher and has also taught Classroom Music at Griffith University. She has been on the KMEIA Qld committee for 14 years and in 2017 was elected as the President.

Deb co-ordinated the KMEIA QLD Musical Beginnings and Middle Years Music Education DVD projects and Deb holds an Australian Kodály Certificate (Early Childhood)

Friday 3rd March / 4pm -6 pm / Aboriginal and Islander Music Session / In this session, participants will discover ways to introduce more Aboriginal music and Torres Strait Islander Music into their primary music classrooms in a culturally sensitive and musical way.
Saturday 4th March / 10am -3pm / Curriculum and all that Jazz / How do I implement the Australian curriculum? Do I need to change what I am doing? What is C2C? How do I use the units? What do I do with all these changes? How do I sequence the learning opportunities for my students? How can I scaffold the learning and still make it interesting?

PD Certificate will be issued – hours count towards Queensland College of Teacher Professional Development Requirements.
