Chapters:
  • Bluegrass: President - Julie Derringer, President Elect – Kelsey Jobe and Secretary Karina Molina. Web site bluegrass.ena.nursingnetwork.com. Next meeting date March 14 at 5:00p.m. EST at Texas Road House, Pikeville. Conference calling available. They are utilizing a point system which has an end result of a free membership to ENA.
  • Kentuckiana: President – Mary Lynn, President Elect -David Claypool and Secretary is Matt Pearson. Baskets from the chapter sent to all Louisville Emergency Departments. Continue with public education for hands on CPR. Continue with their Facebook page. Next meeting February 15 at 1:00 EST at Rafferty’s by Suburban Hospital.
  • Three Rivers: President - Lisa Stewart, President-elect - Kelly Watson, Secretary - Anne Afton. Next meeting date February 11, 1:00p.m. at Owensboro. Working on networking and membership.

Two members were unassigned and ENA notified to assign to Three Rivers (this is included in our total) Two new members were listed for the Bluegrass chapter.
Noted that we have 29 listed Kentucky ENA members with 20 years or more. Discussion of some type of recognition at the State Conference.

Kristin Nation, Allison Betulis and Khay Douangdara to attend “Day On the Hill” for 2016.
Noted that the National Traffic Safety Board is attempting to reduce the blood alcohol level from .08 to .05 – one estimate is 800 lives would be saved.
Continue to support Bills concerning Mental Health Funding.
  • Trauma/Pediatric – Linda Murray
TNCC Instructor Course – March 24 at UK.
ENPC Instructor Course – October at UK.
Trauma Committee for TNCC and ENPC developing a modular course, more on this later in the year.
Grant funds for ENPC – plan to organize a class before June 30. Linda Murray will work with Meg Candage.
  • Fundraising – Anne Afton
Each chapter to devise a method or event to raise funds for our State Challenge for the ENA Foundation. Please advise Anne of your activities. Deadline is May 31.

Submission for the Barbara Foley Injury Prevention award – Mary Raley
Open for Kentucky Nurse of the Year and Rising Star award – these awards would be presented at our Kentucky State Conference.
  • Student Nurse Relations - Dan Andrews
Awaiting date for the KANS conference for 2016, normally this is in the fall. Encourage relationship building with nursing schools in each chapter area. Dan will send out school listings to each Chapter President.
  • IQSIP – Mary Rose Bauer
Encourage everyone to review the wealth of information on IQSIP projects that is on the ENA web site. Injury Prevention Programs and Education, under Information by Topics, has many products to choose from. Another area Wellness including Guidelines for Choosing Wellness gives many ideas for improving our selves and staff in our departments. Another article discusses the cautions with patients getting too much Tylenol, not realizing that Tylenol is in the prescription and taking more over the counter. Opoid Overdose Tool Kit is another excellent source of information.

Kentucky EMSC Stakeholders Conference: Focus on the care of Pediatrics in our state. The National Pediatric Readiness Project results are available on line. Encourage each chapter to promote review of their equipment and care of the pediatric patient.
Indiana Injury Prevention Advisory Conference: May 19 at Indianapolis – Cost $35.00 – Contact Mary for further information.
State Leaders Conference: Las Vegas, Nevada on February 18 to 20, 2016. Attending are Mary Raley, Betty Nolan, Renee Cecil, Matt Pearson, Julie Derringer, Lisa Stewart, Anne Afton and Khay Douangdara. Betty Nolan passed out a listing of travel information of attendees.

2016 Kentucky State ENA Conference: Julie Derringer
August 18 & 19, 2016. Location the Science Center at Louisville. CPEN review on the 18th.
Motion: At the conference to have one free drawing, for all attendees except students, for a year membership to ENA ($115.00)and four $25.00 discount drawings for the attendees that join ENA the day of the conference.
Action: Motion carried; motion passed unanimously
Vendors and title sponsors are at 20. Check with Julie for specific information. Each chapter is encouraged to create a basket or other items to use at our conference as a fund raiser for the ENA Foundation. Due to the date of the conference funds will go toward our 2017 State Challenge. Discussion on the possibility of t-shirts for the conference.
Registration will be on the Kentucky State website once it is redesigned. Discounted registration rate for student nurses will be offered.

The next meeting of the Kentucky State Council will be on April 1 at 3 PM EST at Audubon Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
2016 meeting dates will be the first Friday of the even months: June 3, Aug. 5, Oct.7, and Dec. 2. Location Audubon Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
