L9000 Indicator Installation Tips:

Verify the door prep for the indicator cam driver bar is correct.

·  This is important because the cam driver bar needs to have free movement without binding on the door

·  Slightly enlarging the access hole in the door for the indicator cam driver bar to prevent interference is acceptable

Once the door prep is complete and verified for the indicator cam driver bar and the lock case is installed, use the plastic template included with the indicator to locate and drill the pilot holes for securing the indicator mounting bracket.

·  The template is to ensure the mounting bracket is properly aligned when installing. The square post on the template is designed to insert into the thumbturn hub of the lock case. The template provides the positioning of the four mounting screw holes for the indicator mounting bracket

·  The template aids in alignment of the mounting bracket to prevent interference between the indicator cam driver bar and the mounting bracket

·  The plastic template is designed to also be used to locate and drill the thumbturn rose mounting pilot holes

Use this: Before installing this:

Once the door prep has been verified, verify the door thickness and cut the indicator cam driver bar to the correct length. Use care when cutting the cam driver bar to ensure the length is accurate for the door thickness.

·  This is important because if the lock has a thumbturn on the inside and the indicator cam driver bar is too long, the thumbturn spindle may push the indicator cam driver forward and may disengage from the indicator sign

·  If the cam is too short, it may disengage from the turn hub and prevent operation of the sign

·  For 2-1/4” door thickness, the cam should not be cut

·  For 1-3/8”, 1-3/4” or 2.00” doors, the cam should be cut to the line above the number

Place the indicator mounting plate, sign and cam on the door prep and verify the operation/handing by holding the assembly in place and operating the locking mechanism. If the cam binds, check the handing and verify the operation. Once the operation and handing is verified, install the sign, mounting plate, cam and E-clip as illustrated below:

Install the indicator rose/escutcheon and be sure to install the screws at the top and bottom of the indicator rose to secure the rose in place.

·  This is important to ensure the rose is held in proper position and reduces the forward movement of the indicator cam driver so that it does not disengage from the indicator sign

Do a final check of the operation to ensure everything is operating as it should.
