Bhalswa Golf Course

GENRAL

This Special feature brings out the salient of the newly developed Bhalswa Golf Course.

Located just 20 minutes from the city center, the drive to the course is easy on the outer Ring Road, pass the Raj Ghat and ISBT. If you are around North & East of Delhi you may reach the course in less time.

Once you enter the course through the aesthetically designed GatePlaza, golfer will enjoy the emitting serenity of the country side amid lush greens.

Sprawled around 32 hectares, the 9 hole course has a yardage of 2570. A repeat round will involve a walk of more than 6000 yards. Bounded by the outer ring road on the south and the popular Bhalswa lake complex onthe East with the Burari Authority on the west, this is a second golf course developed by the DDA. Entry to the golfcourse is off the outer ring road just 1.5 km short of the G. T. Karnal Road bypass.

The mass of trees through which the course has been cut are supplemented by natural water bodies and strategic bunkering which makes course extremely tight.

OBJECTS

The game of golf is getting popular with more and more people getting attracted to this fascinating game. The limited golf course in the capital all located in the Southern part of the capital, made it difficult for golf aspirants in other parts of the city. With the commissioning of the 9 hole course at Bhalswa and its pay and play facility the DDA has brought the game of golf at the door steps of the large populace located in the Northern & Eastern part of the capital.

MANAGEMANT

The Bhalswa Golf Course will be run by the sports management Board of DDA which will retain the over all control like other sports complexes. The Bhalswa golf Course is an independent set up of DDA and has no affiliation with regard to facilities with any sports complexes.

FACILITIES

The golf course is still under development. The limited facilities include a club house with change rooms and pro- shop all just adequate to meet a golfers need.

The course is already favorite for practice session simply because of its 250 yards driving range, practice green and chipping area perfect for correcting that slice.

The aesthetically designed parking, amidst green islands can accommodate 50 cars at a time.

Proper snack bars with seating arrangement are already under planning and will come up shortly.

FEE STUCTURE.

The Golf Course will be run on pay and play basis with the schedule of charges as specified below:-

Any golfer playing the course is entitled to

Practice in driving range free.

The above fee is including of Service tax.

CLUB AND COURSE HOURS.

GOLF COURSE

The timing of the course will be as under:-

Summer 5.45 AM to 7.00 PM

Winter7.00 AM to 5.00 PM

CLUB HOUSE

Summer 6.00 AM to 8.00 PM

Winter6.00 AM to 7.00 PM

The above timing may be modified from time to time by the Committee. Every individual, dependant, guest/ visitor will strictly comply with the club timings.

Monday will be observed as close day

ORDER OF PLAY.

The right of starting at the 1st Teeing ground shall be governed by and shall accrue to players according to the order in which their names are entered on a time sheet. When a time– sheet is not in use, the right of starting shall be according to the order in which all players in a match arrive the first Tee.

If any players is absent from the teeing ground at which he is to start or if his match or party is not complete and not present at the teeing ground as soon as the preceding match has teed off, he shall lose his right of precedence.

Players in course matches and competitions shall always have precedence in starting over other players in private matches.

On occasions when a starter is present, players shall abide by his instruction as to starting the game. The starter will have discretion to re-arrange times as heconsiders fit and in the interest of good order and in fairness to all players.

The committee may appropriate certain times on the time –sheet or close the Course for course matches and competitions or for any other purpose as they consider fit.

No player may start at any place on the course other than at the 1st Teeing grounds or as decided by the Committee from time to time. A player starting from an unauthorized Teeing ground will have no standing on the course. No players may cut in front of other matches at any stage during the course of a round

The Chief patron, president and Captain of the course will have precedence at first Tee whether entered on the time- sheet or not.

FLAGS ON THE COURSE

The course will have three flags. The course flag will be hoisted when the course is open. The flags of the chief patron and the president shall be hoisted whenever they are on the course.

PRIORITY ON COURSE

Unless special / specific instructions are issued by the golf Committee otherwise, the following procedure would apply:-

  • A two ball is entitled to pass any three or four ball ( except on week ends & holidays)
  • A single player has no standing and will give way to match/ play of any kind (two ball and above).
  • Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round.
  • If a match fails to keep up its pace on the course and lags more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should invite the match following to pass.

BYE LAWS

  • Each player should have his/ her own golf bag. Sharing of bags is not permitted.
  • All players must commence their game from tee No.1
  • Order of play will be order in which players arrive on Tee No. 1
  • Not more then 4 players can play in a group.
  • When play is repeated Tee off from Tee No. 1 will be alternate between old and new group.
  • Children below the age group of 5 years are not allowed on the course, drive Range.
  • One round (9 hole) is to be completed in 2 hrs. & 10 minutes.
  • Individual should have acquired reasonable degree of proficiency before going on the course.

DRESS CODE.

  • Players should be dressed in proper golf attire.
  • Open Collar Shirts, Jeans, Track suit, Bermudas etc are not allowed.
  • Shoes with soft spikes preferred.
  • Individual not properly dressed will not be permitted to use the driving Range and Golf course.

SAFETY ON THE COURSE.

The responsibility for ensuring safe play lies with the golfer.

Following precautions are laid down for strict observations by all golfers: -

  • Do not play a shot until you make sure that no one will be hit and all players ahead and to the side are out of range.
  • Shout “FORE” before hitting a shot even if there is a remote possibility of any players being hit by your ball. Play your shot only after receipt of acknowledgement for all concerned of your shout of fore.
  • Any golfer who injures another golfer or caddie or any person on the course and who is reported against, will be liable to be suspended from playing on the course for duration by the Management. Such golfer causing injury will be held responsible.

CONCLUSION

The Bhalswa golf Course is still in its early stages of development and will take some time before it is completed with its allied facilities. Once full developed it will be one of the most picturesque golf course in its natural setting of trees and water bodies.

The beautiful water bodies and the picturesque scenery provide much relief to the golfer in want serenity. The scenic course may not trouble you with water hazards. The course for sure will present ample challenge in the form of forest lining and may soon earn the reputation of being the tightest in the region.
