Qualification Rules of Combination:

  Qualification minimum: 120 credits.

  Specialisation area 1: Fresh Produce Sorting and Packing: Select a minimum of 30 credits from the list of generic elective unit standards and 8 credits from the list of Fresh Produce Sorting and Packing specific unit standards

  Other specialisation areas: Other specialisation areas will be defined and could include Abattoir Processes, Cigarette Manufacturing and Packaging Operations.

Notes

* Will propose to SAQA to delete reference to Chemical Industry from the unit standard (See US 12199 in core).

The qualification is proposed as an entry level qualification for a range of produce handling operations. The range of electives allows learners to select a field of interest and to pursue a career in this field through higher level qualifications.

Further consultation with other potential interest groups will be conducted to define specialization areas such as Abattoir or meat handling processes, Tobacco handling processes (Cigarette manufacturing and packaging industry)
