Prerequisite Learning:

Presentation Classroom Management

Set:
Bring pumpkins of various sizes into the classroom and ask the students what they see. Let the students touch the pumpkins and ask them what the notice. Make sure to ask them about the lines in the pumpkins if they do not notice them. Record their answers on the board.
Development:
·  Introduce the students to Activity. Tell them that today they will be making chalk pumpkins today.
·  Ask the students if they have ever done chalk art before. Explain and demonstrate to the students that after they draw on the paper with the chalk they have to smudge it with paper towel.
·  Ask the students what ideas they have for making the lines on the pumpkin Ex: darker coloring, different colors, etc.
·  Give the students their materials and let them make their pumpkins
Closure:
Ask the students how they made their pictures. Have the students explain what colors they used to make their pumpkins. Ask students if any of them used one color on top of another color and if that made a different color. Also ask them what shapes the used to make their pictures.
Adaptive Dimension:
An adaption you can make depending on the class is to turn their pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns. You can also do this activity with other art materials such as paint.
