YCS Spring Auction only a week away! Join us on May 2nd to make this auction a big success!

The first edition of our Auction Catalog is on it's way!

Check out the coolest items and get the greatest deals of the year! Tickets, Trips, Classes, Camps, After-school, Restaurants, Salons, Jewelry, ….

Get your ticket to the Party of the Year any day next week at drop-off (outside unless it is raining, then West-lobby) or online at Everyone must purchase a ticket to attend.

Can’t make it, but see something you like? You can still bid! Send us a proxy-bid by email to 3pm on 5/1/15. Please include the item number and name, bid amount, your name, contact and your child’s name in the email. All bids must be received by3pm on 5/1/15.

Your bid amount will be entered as the first bid on the item’s bid sheet at the start of the auction. It will not be monitored or adjusted during the live auction and you will not be notified of any other proxy bids on the same item, so we urge you to bid the highest amount you would be willing to pay for the item to give you the best chance of winning the items you are interested in. Winners will be notified via email by May 4th at the latest.

Interested in being on the YCS PTA Executive Board for the 2015-16 School Year?

Nominations for the YCS PTA Executive Board are DUE at the NEXT PTA Meeting scheduled Tuesday, May 19th. All interested candidates need notbe present at the time of the nomination to be eligible to run.

YCS parents are eligible to nominate themselves or another to run for any Executive Board position (see attached flyer for positions and add'l details!)

Look for information on the Duties of Officers on the Executive Board at: or in your child’s backpack soon.

Harriet the Spy scavenger hunt

Dear 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders,

Come celebrate the Empire State Center for the Book dedication of Carl Schurz Park as a Literary Landmark for Louise Fitzhugh’s much loved book: Harriet the Spy

Join in a scavenger hunt throughout Carl Schurz Park and receive a copy of Harriet the Spy (one per family, while supplies last).

Meet us on the Playground

Enter at East End Avenue and 86th Street at 11:00am, Saturday, May 16th (Rain date May 17th)

Students must be accompanied by a guardian who will participate.

Please pre-register to guarantee one copy of the book per family.

Clean your Closet and Earn Money for Yorkville Community School!

We will be holding aSchoola Clothing Drive during the week of May 18th. Schoola offers preloved kids clothes at up to 70% off retail with 40% of proceeds benefiting schools. Simply by cleaning your closets, you can help us raise funds for our school.

Here is how:

Collect your outgrown and gently-used children, teen and women’s clothing (shoes too!) and drop it off at school between Monday, May 18th and Friday, May 22nd. Please include “Yorkville Community School - 10128“on or in the bag. Add your email address to get updates on your clothing.

*What to Donate: Clean, like new or nearly new children's and women’s clothing (size 12mo and up), top and well-known brands, shoes (no scuffs or smell), boots, women’s handbags and accessories, hats, and scarves and gloves/mittens.

*What Not to Donate: men's or infant clothing, clothing with signs of wear, socks and undergarments, missing labels, altered clothing, offensive language or content, or counterfeit items.

You can also order a free donation bag, follow our progress and spread the word to family and friends through our Schoola web page sensitive). The more people that know about us the more everyone benefits!

POPCORN FRIDAY

Another successful Popcorn Friday!! We raised almost $400 this month from the sale of popcorn and yummy snacks. Thanks to our wonderful volunteers. If you would like to help with upcoming popcorn Fridays please contact Suzanne Klein at .

LOST AND FOUND

We encourage everyone to check the bins and rack for their lost items soon. Anything left in the bins after May 1st will be donated.
