ABOUT US

Hippodrome Plus is Birmingham Hippodrome's packed programme beyond the main stage, thousands of people enjoy the very best in free performances and access events - all delivering the best possible live theatre experience both in and outdoors. In the last few years Hippodrome Plus has delivered a range of large scale out door arts festivals and presentations and we intend this programme of work to develop into the future.

Hippodrome Plus is looking for a team of dedicated Youth Ambassadors aged between 18-24 to join the Hippodrome Plus team.

WHAT IS A YOUTH AMBASSADOR?

A Youth Ambassador makes valuable and practical contributions to our outdoor arts programme.

  • Represents the Hippodrome Plus team in various communities.
  • Actively engages youth audiences and a whole range of new audiences on our behalf.
  • Demonstrates new creative ideas which impact on our promotion, marketing and programmes.
  • Engages with performances and professionals in the arts industry.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The program is funded by Birmingham Hippodrome along with our funders Arts Council England. Our youth ambassadors are required to be committed members of the team and will need to volunteer time for meetings, training and special events. Travel expenses will be paid.

Hippodrome Plus is inviting all Youth Ambassadors to become part of the core programming group when we contribute their ideas through monthly focus groups and discussions. There is also potential to specialise and develop your skills in a particular area!

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for people to fill the following roles and we welcome young people from all backgrounds and communities and are particularly interested in creatively promoting the Hippodrome Plus programme to youth audiences.

We are looking for Youth Ambassadors that are interested in specialising in one of these roles:

Marketing team

  • To creatively promote at Birmingham Hippodrome events.
  • To write reviews, blogs and stimulate conversation on social media.
  • To take part in wonderful publicity stunts and manage individual campaigns.
  • To keep up date the Youth Ambassador social media websites.

Host team

  • To become a main point of contact for youth audiences during outdoor events.
  • To conduct interviews with companies and artists.
  • To lead interesting debates with youth audiences and individuals in the arts industry.

Documentation team

  • To document the Hippodrome Plus programme through film, photography, podcasts and other creative mediums.
  • To capture interviews with companies and artists.

WHAT TRAINING WILL YOU RECEIVE?

Each Youth Ambassador will receive regular training to ensure that each individual is given full support and supervision whilst working with the theatre. The scheme will allow individuals to receive detailed information surrounding each event.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Hippodrome Plus can also now confirm that we will be able to take four Youth Ambassadors to the Greenwich and Dockalands Festival!
