FULL BIOGRAPHY

John F. Warren is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Syracuse University, where he conducts three choirs, and teaches conducting, choral literature, and rehearsal techniques to undergraduate and graduate students. During his 7-year tenure Syracuse choirs have sung at state and regional ACDA conferences, toured to Albany, Boston, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Baltimore, Hartford, as well as Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay, and sung major works with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Warren is a 2011 recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University.

Dr. Warren holds the Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Church Music from Furman University, the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami. In addition, Dr. Warren has worked with numerous outstanding conductors including Robert Shaw, Frieder Bernius, Christoph Eschenbach, Robert Page, Helmuth Rilling, Digna Guerra, Rodney Eichenberger, Jo-Michael Scheibe, and Elmer Thomas. In 2012, Dr. Warren was one of 7 American conductors chosen as participants in the ACDA International Conductor Exchange Program. Through this exchange he travelled to Havana, Cuba and rehearsed and conducted the National Choir of Cuba.

Dr. Warren served on the Planning Committees for the 2011 ACDA National Conference in Chicago and the 2004 ACDA Southern Division Conference in Nashville. He is the New York Repertoire and Standards Chair for Community Choirs and was South Carolina Repertoire and Standards Chair for Women’s Choirs. Dr. Warren has lectured, adjudicated and conducted festival choirs throughout the Eastern United States and Cuba.

Dr. Warren has served in various positions of the American Choral Directors Association and has lectured, adjudicated and conducted festival choirs throughout the Eastern United States and Cuba.
