Summer 2009

My name is Jimmy De Los Santos and I’m one of 18 members of the Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association. Perhaps you’ve seen our shiny white fire engines? We’re the guys who respond to your emergency medical call when you dial 911, come with the hoses and water when your house or building is on fire or cut folks out of cars when there’s been an accident. Yep, that’s us.

Established in 1964, the Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association is a 501(c) (3) non profit organization comprised of professional firefighters whose primary mission is to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its membership while providing quality service to the citizens of Hermosa Beach and the surrounding community. The HBFA holds annual fundraisers and regularly donates portions of those proceeds to local charities, scholarships and foundations. A few of the organizations who have benefited in the past from HBFA are the Hermosa Beach Little League, Mira Costa Scholarship Foundation and the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.

Our First Annual HBFA Charity Poker Tournament / Casino Night is set for Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Manhattan Beach Marriott. The evening includes a raffle prize valued at $10,000 for a main event seat to the World Series of Poker to be held July 2010 at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Hermosa Beach resident and business owner Michael Binder of Altitude Aviation has donated the $10,000 to secure the seat at the WSOP.

We are reaching out to the South Bay community to support us in making this the “Hottest Charity Event Ever To Hit The Beach Cities”. Chairs of the event include Firefighters Brian Grebbien (President of the Association) , Scott Durkin, Me (Jimmy), local business owner Susie Fraley of Alpha Grant Solutions and community members Jenn Auville and Laurie Baker. This event is being put on so that we, your friendly firefighters, can create and foster a community bond with our local citizens and bring awareness and financial support to the HBFA. A portion of the proceeds from this event will fund our Hermosa Beach Firefighters Benevolent/Memorial Funds.

Event sponsorships for businesses and individuals range from $500 to $2000 and include many benefits. We are also accepting silent auction items and gift certificates for our Casino Night Silent Auction. I have included a Reservation / Sponsorship form and an envelope for your convenience. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or would like more information about our upcoming event and organization.

Thank You again for supporting the HBFA!!
