LEVEL/TEAM REQUIREMENTS

*These are a guideline and include suggested requirements for each level but are not limited to the skills listed below. Athletes age, maturity, and the success of the team is also taken in to account when creating teams*

ALL-STAR PREP TEAMS:

Half Year Prep Team

No experience is needed for these teams. Learn the basics of all-star cheerleading with a lesser time and financial commitment. These teams practice 1 day per week for approximately 90-120 minutes. These teams practice 6 months during the school year and attend 3 or 4 local competitions/performances. No tryouts. Registration opens July 1st and practices begin after Labor Day in September.

Non-Travel Full Year

Athletes being considered for this team will attend tryouts in May. Athletes that do not meet the minimum level 1 entry requirements may be considered for this team. This team is usually for athletes 10 and older.

ALL-STAR ELITE TRAVEL TEAMS:

Placement by tryout only. ***In order to remain competitive at a national level, Connect Cheer NW is looking for mastery of most skills within a level to be placed on a team of that level (ex: must show mastery of all or near-all level 3 skills to be placed on a level 3 team).

We will be looking at skill sets in many different areas and will assess athlete’s biggest strength(s)ie., proficient tumbling, excellence in basing, excellence in back spotting, excellence in flying and body positions.

Level 1

  • Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills including, but not limited to - Prep level stunts, prep level single-leg stunts, cradles, tic tocs with body positions at and below prep level
  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts noted above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to demonstrate stunts with a bracer including extended 2 feet stunts, prep level body positions and tic tocs.
  • Standing Tumbling - cartwheel, multiple back walkovers connected and front walkovers, switch leg front and back walkovers with excellent technique
  • Running tumbling - front walkover cartwheel back walkover and round-off with excellent technique.
  • Jumps - ability to connect 2 or 3 jumps with excellent technique (ie., proper arm placement, straight legs, and height).
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.

Level 2

  • Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills including, but not limited to - half up to extended two-foot stunt, inversion at ground level transitions to single leg stunts and extended two foot stunt, body position to body position tic tocs, or tic tocs with a 180 degree turn, half turning stunts and transitions.
  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts noted above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to demonstrate stunts with a bracer including 180 degree turns and tic tocs to extended single leg stunts with a body position
  • Tosses - straight ride toss
  • Standing Tumbling - back handspring step out and back walkover back handspring with perfect technique
  • Running tumbling - front walkover round-off back handspring series with perfect technique
  • Jumps - ability to connect 2 or 3 jumps with excellent technique including but not limited to arm placement and straight legs level to the performance floor.
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.

Level 3

  • Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills including, but not limited to - inversion to extended single leg stunt, tic toc from prep level to extended body position, switch up to prep level body position, full twisting stunts to prep level single leg and full twisting dismounts.
  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts noted above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to perform stunts with a bracer such as release moves at or to extended single leg stunts and full twisting transition to extended 2-leg stunt
  • Tosses - toe touch, ball-x, pike, and full twisting toss
  • Standing Tumbling - jump to back handspring series and standing back handspring series with excellent technique
  • Running tumbling - aerial, front tuck stick, and front walkover round-off multiple back handspring to tuck with excellent technique
  • Jumps - ability to connect 2 or 3 jumps with excellent technique including, but not limited to arm placement and straight hyper-extended legs and height (past parallel to the performance floor). As well as connecting back handspring series out of 2 or 3 jumps.
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.

Level 4

  • Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills including, but not limited to - released inversion to extended stunt, 1 ½ twisting stunts to prep level body position, body position to body position tick-tocks at prep level, body position to body position tick tock extended to prep level, full twisting prep level tick-tocks, double twisting dismount from two feet at prep or extension level.
  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts noted above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to perform stunts with a bracer such as release moves, back/front flips, 1 ½ twisting transitions to extended 2-leg stunt
  • Tosses - double twisting and kick full toss
  • Standing Tumbling - standing back tuck, back handspring tuck and back handspring series to tuck with excellent technique
  • Running tumbling - cartwheel back tuck, punch front step-out round-off back handspring layout, and round-off whip back handspring layout with excellent technique
  • Jumps - ability to connect 2 or 3 jumps with excellent technique including but not limited to arm placement and straight hyper-extended legs (past parallel to the performance floor). Jumps to back handspring tuck.
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.

Level 5 restricted - Junior and Senior

Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills with including but not limited to - released inversion from prep level to extended single leg, 1 ½ twisting stunt to extended stunt, full twisting transition to extended single leg stunt, lib to body position tick tocks at extended level, and double twisting dismounts from a single leg.

  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts noted above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to perform stunts with a bracer such as released tick tocks, braced flips and full twisting stunts to extended single leg
  • Tosses - kick double toss
  • Standing Tumbling - jumps to back tuck, back handspring series to layout, back handspring series with whip to layout with excellent technique
  • Running tumbling - round-off back handspring full, punch front step-out through to full, whip through to full, round-off arabian with excellent technique
  • Jumps - ability to connect 2 or 3 jumps with excellent technique including, but not limited to proper arm placement and straight hyper-extended legs (past parallel to the performance floor).
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.

Level 5 - Senior

Stunts - ability to perform elite level skills with including but not limited to - released inversion from prep level to extended single leg body position, body position to body position tick tocks at extended level, 1 ½ twisting stunt to extended body position, double twisting to extended stunt, and double twisting dismount from single leg

  • Top girls must show mastery of all body positions with excellent flexibility and technique in elite level stunts above. They also must execute these elite level skills with confidence.
  • Pyramid - ability to perform stunts with a bracer such as flipping skills with a twist,
  • Tosses - hitch kick double, switch kick double toss
  • Standing Tumbling - standing full, back handspring series to full, back handspring series to double full with excellent technique
  • Running tumbling - arabian to full, punch front to full, whip though to full and round-off back handspring double with excellent technique.
  • Jumps - ability to connect 3 jumps with excellent technique including, but not limited to proper arm placement and straight hyper-extended legs (past parallel to the performance floor).
  • Choreography/Dance/Performance - ability to learn elite level routine choreography quickly and perform routine with confidence.
