Job Title : Accountant and Chief Financial Officer

Position Description:Accountant and Chief Financial Officer
1.Purpose: Responsible for managing the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the CIL financial and accounting records as well as provide information about the CIL financial activities that will assist management and the Board of Directors in making economic decisions about the organization's future.
2.Reports To: Executive Director
3.Essential Functions:
•Responsible for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial reporting including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements and cash flow projections.
•Budget analysis, projections, including working with management and staff to complete annual budget.
•Manage all aspects of the accounting information system, including the implementation and maintenance of accounting software.
•Maintain proficient knowledge of financial reporting and regulations relating to not-for-profit organizations as established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and relevant government agencies.
•Participate in the Operations Team.
•Supervise the activities of the bookkeeper position.
•Complete monthly and year-end closing entries and procedures.
•Develop, implement and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
•Complete reconciliation of ledger accounts.
•Facilitate the annual audit.
•Assist in the administration of Human Resources activities.
•Complete all reports including, but not limited to: timesheets, vacation, sick leave, compensation time, leave of absence requests, activity reports and grant applications by their respective due dates.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

•Actively participate in the delivery of services and/or the implementation of public relations, special events, marketing, and fundraising activities, as requested.
•Enhance the image of the CIL in person, by telephone and in written communication.
5.Qualifications
•Personal experience with disability and /or knowledge of disability issues and the consumer/community based IL philosophy.
•Good communications skills.
•Excellent computer and accounting software skills.
•Management, leadership and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively and use judgment and discretion in decision-making.
•Commitment to and ability for continuous improvement and mastery of the relevant body of knowledge related to this position.
•Masters Degree required. Three or more years experience in fund accounting and financial reporting for not-for-profit human service organizations.
