“Best of Seattle” 20 mile run

  1. Start north on Union Bay Pl NE, then left onto Burke Gilman Trail for 2 miles.
  2. At UniversityBridge take stairway to your right, and head south (right) on Eastlake Ave E.
  3. Cross bridge, take right at first street (Fairview Ave E or Fuhrman Ave E) and head south on Fairview Ave E.
  4. Left at E. Hamlin St. for ½ block to alley. Take right into alley for 2 blocks. Right on E Roanoke St., then left back onto Fairview Ave E.
  5. Follow streets around south end of lake, then northbound along Westlake Ave N. to Aurora Ave N bridge.
  6. 11 Milers: Right over Fremont Bridge(Fremont Ave. N), circle down to Burke Gilman Trail and head east back to Burgermaster (Water and bathroom available at Gasworks Park).
  7. 12 14 Milers: Right over Fremont Bridge (Fremont Ave. N), east on Burke Gilman Trail toward Gasworks Park, then continue with#16 below (13 miles=counter-clockwise around lake, 14 miles=clockwise).
  8. 18 & 20 Milers: Run straight across Fremont Ave N (Fremont Bridge on your right side) and continue onto Nickerson St. for 1-1/2 miles.
  9. Follow ramp under BallardBridge to your right. Follow trail under the bridge to stairs to your left.
  10. At top of stairs turn right, then right again over RR tracks on W Emerson St.
  11. Right (after Fisherman’s Terminal) on 21st Ave W. which turns into W Commodore Way for about 1-1/2 miles.
  12. Right at trail at CommodorePark to the boat locks. Bathrooms and water on other side of locks.
  13. Exit out main entrance (northbound) and right onto NW 54th St with immediately becomes NW Market St. for a little less than ½ mile.
  14. Angle right onto Shilshole Ave NW.
  15. Just under BallardBridge angle left onto NW 45th St. which takes you next to Fred Meyer and the beginning of the Burke Gilman Trail. Stay on trail for 2 miles.
  16. Left at Stone Way N (next to Speedy Reedy store), and up long gradual hill for about 1-1/2 miles.
  17. 18 Milers: Continue straight to Green Lake (passing sports fields on your left side), right onto trail going counter-clockwise for about 1 mile).
  18. 20 Milers: Left at N 50th St. After tennis courts take right onto dirt trails thru Lower Woodlawn Park, and then meander down hill to trail on Green Lake. Bathroom and water at facilities near parking lot.
  19. Go clockwise (northbound) around lake for about 2 miles to the pool and community center.
  20. At community center/pool (bathroom and water)head out toward street (left for 20 milers, right for 18 milers) and follow NE Ravenna Blvd for about 1 mile.
  21. Turn left at Brooklyn Ave NE and right into Cowen Park. Follow trails down thru park until it ends.
  22. At street go to right and immediate left onto Ravenna Pl NE to where Burke Gilman Trail crosses 25th Ave NE, and follow Burke Gilman Trail back to Burgermaster.
