A Story of Two Lucky People by Chris Rigney

In 1982 when Mike owned a 1972 Dodge Charger, he knew he had a love for Mopars. The reliable 318 engine took all that Mike put it through.

Also in the household was a 1973 Dodge Charger SE, a brilliant Top Banana color with a sharp black leather interior powered by a healthy 400 4-bbl., which was owned by his father as a Dodge lover whom to his credit owned a 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 as the first car he was able to buy himself.

When Mike and I met in 1995, he owned a 1985 Dodge Shadow. It provided Mike and me great transportation from the far eastside of Indianapolis to the far westside of Plainfield every day.

The years went by coming to the fateful day in October 2003. He became the executor of his father’s estate and there sat 7 Mopars. Only one of the cars ran, it being a beautiful red 1967 Dodge Coronet 440. His father had made himself a nice, well stocked garage for anything and everything.

Unfortunately, eight days before his retirement, his father passed away at age 58, way before his time. Sadly there were too many bills left to pay, but kept the best car of all. With a little hitch, we paid off the balance and it has become a new chapter in our lives.

We got the car in the winter so we couldn’t wait to get it out. We learned about a car show and wanted to experience what it would be like. When we got to the show, we met Ken Scobel who introduced us to the Indy Mopar Club and have been members ever since.

The past couple of years the car has been altered, but all for the best, the original numbers matching block and transmission. Through Ken, we found out the car is 1 of 504, pretty amazing.

Hopefully the newest chapter of our lives will be to find the wife a Mopar to drive soon!!!

All the awards, plaques, and trophies that car has won and will win, have been dedicated to Max Rigney, Mike’s father.

We’d like to welcome new members: Jamie & Dominique Fenner, Zionsville, 71 Dodge Demon 340 and 2005 Dodge Hemi Ram; and John & Mary Pat Marquette, Midlotian, IL, 70 Dodge Challenger T/A and 64 Plymouth Valiant Convertible. We hope to see all of you soon at a meeting or event.

Ken and Sharon Scobel have great news, their daughter gave birth to their 1st grandchild, Tyler James Bennett, born on Easter Sunday. He weighed 9.6 ounce, was 21 1/2 inches long. Mother and baby are doing fine. Sharon and I are finally Grand Parents! By the way, daughter Tracy and her husband Brett are doing well also. Congratulations to all!

A Little Bit of Humor

Children's Sermon:

One Easter Sunday morning as the minister was preaching the children's sermon, he reached into his bag of props and pulled out an egg. He pointed at the egg and asked the children, "What's in here?" "I know!" a little boy exclaimed. "Pantyhose!"

PALM SUNDAY:

It was Palm Sunday and, because of a sore throat, five-year-old Johnny stayed home from church with a sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying several palm branches. The boy asked what they were for. "People held them over Jesus' head as he walked by." "Wouldn't you know it," the boy fumed, "the one Sunday I don't go, he shows up!"

GRANDMA

Little Jayden asked his grandma how old she was. Grandma answered, "39 and holding." Jayden thought for a moment, and then said, "And how old would you be if you let go?"

The Water Pistol

When my three-year-old son opened the birthday gift from his grandmother, he discovered a water pistol.. He squealed with delight and headed for the nearest sink. I was not so pleased. I turned to mom and said, "I'm surprised at you. Don't you remember how we used to drive you crazy with water guns?" Mom smiled and then replied..... "I remember"
