Protocols: “GO” Students will go to, or do the assigned tasks
“Freeze” Students will stop the activity.
Set Induction: Today class we are going to play some games using what we learned last class. Who can tell me what we learned last time? (pathways, self-space) Correct, well we are going to use those in a few games.
TASK DESCRIPTIONS
T1- “Tennis Ball Scramble” Have the students stand facing the wall and the teacher throws the bucket with the balls in the center of the gym. The students must then go find their ball and return to the wall. The students will have a hula-hoop around them, and can’t “bump” into other people. If they bump into someone else they must drop the hula-hoop and run around it before the can continue. Play 2-3 times and tell them to try and beat their jumping jacks from the last game.T2- “Shadow Matching” In this game students will pair up and copy whatever movement their partner does. We will either tell them the type of movement (sideways, zigzag) or let them move freely anyway that they choose. After you person goes, the follower becomes the leader.
T3- “3 Finger Tag” Students will play a tag game where the object is not to get tagged, or bump into other people. Start out with 1 or 2 taggers and everyone else has 3 points (3 fingers) that they hold above their head. If they lose all their points, they become tree helpers where they can not move, but tag other people.T4- “Snake Scramble”
If students touch a rope or another student while moving around the space, they must jump back and forth over a rope on the ground 5 times quickly before starting to travel again. Call out different locomotor movements for them to do. Will either decrease the area or add ropes later on to make it more challenging. /
KEY INSTRUCTIONS
T1- We are first going to play “Tennis Ball Scramble.” Everybody will have a tennis ball with a number on it. When I say “GO” run to a cone and pick up a ball, and run back to the wall. “GO” Now everybody remember the number that is on the ball. Now when I say “GO” I need everybody to put your ball in this basket, grab a hula-hoop, and return to the wall. “GO” Your hula-hoop is you car, and you have to drive around to pick up your ball. If you bump into somebody else you must drop your hula-hoop and run around it one time to continue. (Other teacher) will throw the balls into the air to scatter them around. You must start with one hand on the wall, and when you find your tennis ball put it back on the cone, return to the wall, drop your hula-hoop and do jumping jacks until everybody returns to the wall. So who can tell me what you do if you bump into somebody? Correct, When I say “GO” go find your tennis ball. “GO”When done everybody put up your hula-hoops and tennis balls in designated area
T2- Alright now everybody needs to find a partner in 5 seconds. 5,4,3,2,1 – Good now we are going to play a game called shadow matching. In this game one person will be the leader, and the other person will follow behind him/her as if trying to walk on their shadow. You must stay arms length away, and inside the cones. I (teacher) will tell you to move in a different pathway. “zigzag, curved, low” After the leader goes, we will switch roles and the follower will become the leader.
T3- I am going to need one volunteer. Now students we are going to play a game called 3 finger tag. We will start with one tagger, and everybody else starts with three points. If you are tagged, or bump into someone else, you lose a point. If you lose all of your points you become a tree helper, where you can’t move, but you can tag other people with your arms. You must stay within the cones. When I say “GO” you will find a spot in the open area “GO” Ok now when I say “GO” we will start. “GO”T4- Now class we are going to play the “snake scramble” We are going move around in our marked area while avoiding the snaked and other people. If you touch someone else, or a snake you must find a rope and jump over it 5 times quickly to continue in the game. Find a spot in the area and when I say “GO” we will start. “GO”

Culminating Activity: Alright class now I want you to raise your hand for your favorite game. You can only vote once. Who liked tennis ball scramble the most? Who liked the shadow game the most Who liked the 3 finger tag the most? And finally who liked the snake scramble the most? The favorite game is the one we will play.
Refinements/Challenges: With the games we can modify them with: Changing the dimensions of the playing area. Have them move in different pathways (zigzag, curved, sideways, etc.)
Closure: Alright, who had fun today? Raise your hand if you can tell me when walking curvy, what letter to you look like? Right you look like a C. Ok, raise your hand if you know, what shape do look like when you move zigzag? Right you look like a Z.
