Best-Laid Business Plans Cover Both Daily Operations and Future Shocks

Contingency Plan

"Business owners should keep in mind Murphy's Law: 'If anything can go wrong, it will,' " said Debra Esparza, director of USC's Business Expansion Network. *Direct Quote from Best Laid article*

Day-to-day operations extend further than the day-to-day operations of the business, contingency plans must be developed for in periods in which business falls below expectations, or continuous issues, snafus, or discrepancies occur.

Problems will typically occur in the following are in-house management error, or external environmental conditions. While contingency plans can be created for supply shortage, employee callout, double bookings, the small stuff.

Supply shortages aversion is handled through creation of a re-order point. Supplies are re-ordered once depleted within a week’s supply range

Employee callout or scheduling conflicts will be avoided through the reviewing the following days schedule of clients and services with all employees, and placing a reminder call or text to staff members who are scheduled to work but off the current day.

Double booking will be avoided at all cost through the use of appointmentmanagement software, however in the likelihood of a double booking customers will be contacted and offered the opportunity to switch stylist or spa tech with a the added bonus of compensation.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our business, major events (fire, earthquakes, tornadoes, civil disturbances, or floods); the company needs a physical location to operate. However, the company will maintain an onsite generator in the event of a power outage.
