ARMY MOUNTAINEERING ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS DINNER 16 FEB 17 – AMA/PD/001
- Introduction. The Army Mountaineering Association (AMA) will be hosting its President’s dinner at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC)in London. This prestigious event will celebrate 60 yearsof the Associations history and mark the official launch of the AMA 60th Anniversary Expedition to Putha Hiunchuli, Nepal.
- Aim. The aim of this administration order (AO) is to ensure all personnel attending the dinner are informed of all details pertaining to the event.
- Venue. The President’s Dinner will take place in the Long Room and Court Room of the HAC.The address of the venue is, The HAC, City Road, London, EC1Y 2BQ. From the main entrance, the guard room will offer directions to the main entrance. From here, specific signage will lead to the Court Room bar.
- Timings. The evening will commence at 1900 hrs in the Court Room bar or the HAC with reception drinks and a chance to view various stands. Dinner will then be called at 1930 hrs, start at 2000 hrs and continue until 2130 hrs in the Long Room. The bar will then open in the Court Room until 2330 hrs.
- Guest Information. A number of senior officers and sponsors will be invited as guests. Members of the AMA 60 expedition are expected to attend as this is the formal expedition launch[1].
- Nominal Role. Cpl Turner will pass a nominal roll to the venue security manager 48 hrs prior to the event for those guests parking at the venue. Failure to book a named ticket in advance by Eventbrite may result in you and/or your guests being refused entry.
- Dress. The dress code for the evening is black tie (no medals) and ladies equivalent.
- Tickets. Ticket numbers are strictly limited; therefore, it is advised to purchase tickets at the earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. Discounted tickets are available to JNCOs and Pte Soldiers, it is to be noted that their guests must pay the standard price. Tickets will remain advertised on Eventbrite; a link will be included in the distribution email of this AO.
- Menu. The HAC will provide a set menu with options for vegetarians.
- Starter: Smoked Trout croquettes served with beetroot carpaccio, fine herb salad and cauliflower purée.
Vegetarian Option: caramelised red onion Tarte Tatin served with sautéed potatoes, sweet basil and a rocket salad.[2] - Main Course:Roast rump of Romney salt marsh lamb served with thyme mashed potatoes, glazed heritage carrots and a rich cranberry jus.
Vegetarian Option: Woodland mushroom and black truffle risotto served with char-grilled courgette and a baked vine tomato salsa Verdi - Dessert:Hazelnut and chocolate crème brulèe with cocoa shortbread and orange zest.
- Dinner Menu. Cpl Turner is to submit a menu design to the HAC staff for the event, in addition to a full room layout, this will be submitted following the confirmation by Col Edwards. This is to be done no later than 10 Feb 17 and is therefore dependent on the timely return of all Annex A forms.
- Drinks. Wine will be served throughout the dinner and there will be will be a port for the Loyal Toast, all included in the personal cost. All extra drinks will be paid for on order throughout the evening.
- Post Dinner Bar. There will be a cash bar in the Court Room will be available until 2330hrs, the cost of drinks post meal is not included in the ticket price.
- Call to dinner. HAC catering manager will undertake this role.
- Table name cards. Cpl Turner is to provide the HAC with a design and nominal role for name cards, this will be done in accordance with direction and guidance from Col Edwards.
- Seating Plan. Cpl Turner, will design a seating plan to ensure appropriate sponsors are sat next to the right key military personnel, this will be done in accordance with direction and guidance from Col Edwards. The plan will be displayed prior to the dinner and a copy will be passed to the caterers.
- Displays. The HAC will supply 1x TV Monitor to allow for AMA60 advertisement to be in the Court Room bar. Al Mason is requested to delegate the task of an expedition advertising slideshow to a member of the expedition team. This is then to be sent to Cpl Turner no later than 9 Feb 17 to ensure that this is set up prior to guest arrival.
- Accommodation. This administration instruction is to be used as authority to book accomodation through unit budgets. Thereare various hotelswithin the immediate areas of the HAC, there is a Travel Lodge and a Holiday Inn within 5 minutes and both offer a military discount. Alternatively, the Victory Services Club at marble Arch or the Union Jack club at Waterloo offer very good rates for Service personnel.
- Transport. Personnel are to make their own arrangements and use unit budgets where possible. This administration order is to be used as authority to book MT transport of unit rail tickets. No expedition funding is available to cover these costs.
- Parking. There is parking available within the HAC grounds, however this is limited. Car sharing or the use of public transport is recommended. Those who wish to bring their own vehicle will need to complete Annex A and submit it to Cpl Turner electronically at the following e-mail Failure to do so will result in refused access to the HAC.
- UK Armed Forces Bouldering League (AFBL). The UK AFBL round 5 will take place on the 16 Feb 17 at the Arch Climbing Centre, London. Registration will be at 1200hrs and the competition will take place 1230-1630hrs. Please see the DIN for further details.
- Address. Cohen Court, 5 Burnt Oak Broadway, London HA8 5LD.
- Photography. The event may be photographed for the promotional material of the Association
- Summary. The evening will bean opportunity to connect with, as well as introduce guests to, other members of the Association, learn about the AMA 60expedition and the various sponsors who assist the association.
