Scholarship Awards Guidelines

LOCAL 70008 - SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS GUIDELINES

Objective

The Local 70008 of the Union of Health and Environment Workers offers four scholarships each year. They consist of two scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 and two in the amount of $500.00. These are awarded to members wishing to further his/her education on a part-time basis.

Applications

Applicants for the scholarship are invited each year by means of an advertisement issued by Local 70008 on Broadcast News and information posted on the Local 70008’s website: Application forms may also be obtained from your Local 70008’s Executive Committee.

Eligibility

Members in good standing, of Local 70008 (UHEW), currently enrolled in an educational program by August 15th 2017, at a university of recognized standing or a recognized institute of higher learning.

No applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.

Local 70008 Scholarship Application Process

All supporting documents must be provided with a completed application form, otherwise it will be considered incomplete.

The scholarship applications must include:

Proof of registration and attendance at a recognized university or institution of higher learning;
Proof of finances to support the statement of proposed budget;
Statement of proposed budget (included on the application);
Statement pertaining to your education and career plans (included on the application), and
A 500 word essay on the Local 70008’s selected topic will be used as part of the selection process.

All documentation must be received on or before August 15th, 2017.
