Job Title: Anti Social BehaviourProject Worker

Department: Victim Support Ealing

Reporting to: Senior Service Delivery Manager

1. Purpose of the Job:

  • To work in partnership with Local Authority’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, Police, Witness Care Unit and a range of other agencies to develop referral pathway for victims and witnesses of anti-social behaviour.
  • To become identified as the ‘Victims’ Champion’ and advocate for Victim of anti-social behaviour within the borough of Ealing.
  • To ensure the highest standards of service delivery in accordance with Victim Support policies and procedures.

2. Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work to become identifiable as the ‘Victims’ Champion’ within the borough of Ealing.
  • Work with Ealing ASB teams and set up a referral pathway for victims and witnesses.
  • Develop and implement a risk assessment tool to assess risk for victims of Anti-Social Behaviour and promote its use across the partnership agencies.
  • Ensure vulnerable & intimidated victims and witnesses of Anti-Social Behaviour are supported appropriately and accompany victims and witnesses to Court where necessary.
  • To do targeted work with hard to reach communities, aimed at encouraging people to come forward as victims of and witnesses to crimes. This will include presentations to organisations and community groups in order to raise awareness of support mechanisms available for victims and witnesses.
  • To support and advocate for victims and witnesses of ASB.
  • To encourage the reporting of ASB byraising awareness of the processes through which this done and to inform residents of the tools & powers available to deal with ASB.
  • To work in partnership with agencies such as Ealing Council, Police and local RSLs to ensure best practice is adopted when victims report ASB incidents
  • To recruit, retain and manage a team of volunteers to assist with Victim Support services for victims and witnesses of ASB.
  • To maintain a thorough, detailed and up-to-date electronic and paper based records of all work undertaken.
  • To work in a creative and imaginative manner in order to achieve the aims of this project.
  • To produce monitoring and evaluation reports asrequired and ensure accurate information is communicated via senior management to funders within agreed deadlines.
  • To attend supervision/training and meetings as required.
  • To work variable hours including some weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
  • To provide a needs-lead service that is fair and accessible to all.

3. General Responsibilities

  • Promote the development of a high quality individual need led service, to comply at all times with Victim Support’s policies and procedures, particularly those regarding Data Protection, Equalities and Diversity and Health and Safety
  • Ensure compliance with and actively promote Victim Support’s Equalities and Diversity policies and strategies.

  • Comply with Victim Support Data Protection Policy
  • Take responsibility for continuing self-development and participate in training and development activities.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience of working with and supporting victims of crime in the voluntary and community sector.(s)
  • Experience of working within the local community.
  • Experience of managing volunteers or similar (s)
  • Experience of liaising and negotiating with statutory agencies on behalf of service users(s)
  • Working within a team with a strong client service focus.

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector
  • Knowledge of civil or community justice processessurrounding ASB
  • Understanding and commitment to the promotion of equal opportunities
  • Knowledge and understanding of the effects of ASB on victims and witnesses (s)

Skills and abilities:

  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise work under pressure
  • Deliver presentations appropriate to the audience(s)
  • Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team
  • Ability to deal sensitively with and maintain confidentiality of clients
  • Competent written, IT and oral communication skills including an ability to monitor and analysedata for the project funders.(s)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively with a range of people both within Victim Support and with outside organisations. (s)
  • Ability to work independently and plan workloads, using your own initiative, in a creative and imaginative manner.
