The State Convention Scholarship

Pays for your State Convention trip ($130)

The award goes to the individual who earns the most points from March 10th-April 16th in preparation for state convention. Here is how points can be earned:

1. One pointper meeting beyond the required number. E.g., participants must attend 2 of 10 academic test prep meetings. If a student attends all 10 meetings, he/she would earn 8 Latinitas points (8 meetings beyond the requirement). See the schedule of meetings here:

2. Two pointsfor preparing a Modern Myth entry and turning it in to me by 3:00pm on March 17th.

3. Two pointsEACH for preparing a Latin Oratory, English Oratory, and/or Dramatic Interpretationwill go to the TOP THREE SCORESupon recitation on April 11th/12th (sign up for time). See the scoring rubrics here:

4. Two pointsfor preparing and performing a Costume Contest entry will go to the TOP THREE SCORESupon recitationon April 11th/12th(sign up for a time). See the scoring rubrics here:

5. One pointper Sloganthat makes the cut when we meet to discuss them on March 17th after the meeting.

6. Two pointsper Graphic Artsentry turned in to me for review on April 11th.

7. One pointper "A" gradeon any Convention test prep Buzz quiz. FYI: Mr. Yaggy will enroll you in this Buzz course and give you your username and password.

8. Two pointsfor the best "electronic" Alae article submission. Due by email to me on April 11th. See examples here:

9. One point for each "electronic" GJCL scrapbook submission. Due by email to me on April 11th. A "submission" would act as a "Dacula JCL" page included in the GJCL scrapbook, that page would include pictures of DHS JCL events and blurbs to accompany the pics, and the page should have an attractive and creative layout/design.

10. One pointfor each "hard copy" submission to the Publicity Contest. Due April 11th. See guidelines on p. 25 here:

These points do NOT count towards the overall Latinitas competition. This is a separate competition for the single purpose of establishing the recipient of the state convention scholarship.
