ACADEMIC HONESTY:

Academic institutions throughout the world have policies regarding honesty and integrity in completing coursework, but sometimes the specific rules can vary among different cultures. Therefore, it is important that students become familiar with and adhere to FullertonCollege’s policy of academic honesty, which is described in detail in the college catalog. Cases of plagiarism or cheating will be taken very seriously in order to ensure that grades represent actual achievement and reward hard work instead of clever dishonesty. To avoid any questionable situations of this nature, students will be expected to follow these general guidelines and any other specific guidelines announced in class.

  • Submit work that is your own.
  • Submit work that has not been submitted, in whole or in part, for credit in another course.
  • If you use someone else’s ideas or words in a paper, you must give credit to the source.
  • You may not help other students engage in dishonest behavior.
  • During written exams, or practical exams, you must completely clear your station and the area immediately around your station of all materials not specifically permitted on the test. You may not talk or share materials with other students. Keep your station clear and maintain silence during the entire testing period, even after you have individually finished. Instructor will give you directions to follow as you finish with practical exams. Turn in written exams before gathering up your belongings
  • Students who engage in plagiarism or cheating or who help others engage in dishonesty may receive an oral reprimand, a failing grade on the assignment or exam, or a failing grade in the course. In addition, students may be reported to the college administration for disciplinary action.
