We do this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with – changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.
The Tunis teaching centre is located in modern, 3-storey, purpose-built British Council premises. We have 14 classrooms, all equipped with interactive whiteboards. The academic year is made up of 4 nine-week terms and 2 summer intensive courses in July and August. Teachers take a longer leave period in the summer (July or August) with a shorter break at Christmas, a break at the end of March and other breaks around the local public holidays. Teachers teach a maximum of 24 contact class hours per week.
The centre has between 400-500 adult students per term on regular public General and Business English, and Exam preparation courses and around 1500 young learners across three age groups – Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary. We also teach a small number of corporate contracts both on and off-site.
The staff consists of 12 full-time teachers, 6 hourly paid teachers, a YL coordinator, an ICT coordinator, 2 Senior Teachers (Adults and Young Learners) and Deputy Teaching Centre Manager, overseen by Deputy Director/Director English. The administration staff is made up of a TC Admin Officer, a Registrar, an Assistant Registrar, five Customer Services assistants and support staff who deal with finance, IT and premises.
