Purpose:To lead and develop Made in MaryleboneSocial Enterprise into a thriving and energised part of the Marylebone Project, contributing to a purposeful and enterprising community based successful venture

Using the Christian principles of love, justice and hope, we aim to address the needs of homeless women in a holistic way and to set an example through our words and actions for others to follow. Through community we aim to support, encourage, motivate and empower homeless women to regain self-confidence and to take control and responsibility for their lives.

Objectives:

1To inspire and manage the successful development and establishment of Social Enterprise though the Made In Marylebone brand and its associated streams.

2To lead, support and promote meaningfulclient engagement and to create an environment where clients feel motivated and valued.

3To develop employment opportunities and employer relationships appropriate to the needs of the Marylebone Project Clients and to also ensure client training within the MIM enterprise is relevant and appropriate to the requirements of would be employers.

4To ensure development of new customers, maintenance of existing customer relationships and production of income within agreed budgets. Ensuring delivery on time and within set expenditure limit as well as building positive relationships with purchasers, suppliers, the wider entrepreneurial community and ensuring full compliance with any associated and relevant legislation.

5To contribute to the wider management team and contribute to integration of Social Enterprise as a coreendeavourwithin the overall management and development of the Marylebone Project.

Key Tasks:

1.To inspire and manage the successful development of Social Enterprise though the Made In Marylebone brand and its associated streams.

1.1.To implement a strategic framework to deliver an effective Social Enterprise that produces positive community, employment ready clients and sufficient income to pay associated costsand in time to be a net contributor to the Marylebone Project budget.

1.2.To ensure that Social Enterprise becomes an integrated part of the resident support system within the Project.

1.3.To develop and maintain effective communication and liaison with relevant external agencies, customers and funders which are appropriate to the work of the Marylebone Project.

1.4.To implement the Social Enterprise business plan and develop a strategic framework for the development, management and coordination of the Social Enterprise for the overall Marylebone Project & integrated into the other services .

1.5.To be involved in the development and preparation of the Social Enterprises budgets and to contribute the Projects wider income and expenditure objectives against budget with regard to Social Enterprise.

1.6.To proactively deliver income and expenditure against agreed targets and provide regular reports on performance and activities. To actively recommend innovative developments and promotions for MIM.

1.7.To do everything possible to ensure the safety of colleagues and residents and to ensure that all services and provision within or outside the Project are in accordance with statutory Health & Safety requirements and the Project’s Health & Safety policies and procedures and as appropriate to participate in Health & Safety meetings.

1.8.To develop additional activities and contributing streams (both in employment preparation and income creation) within Social Enterprise from successful taster sessions

1.9.To lead develop and actively manage the Catering Coordinator and other staff, volunteers and consultants involved in Made in Marylebone. To ensure suitable cover where required on a operational basis is provided.

2.To lead, support and promote meaningful client engagement and to create an environment where clients feel motivated and valued.

2.1.To provide regular support and supervision (monthly or as appropriate) for staff & volunteers and annual appraisals/reflections.

2.2.To provide project integrated inspirational education, employment and training experiences for clients and to successfully promote involvement for clients at whatever stage of their journey with the Marylebone Project

2.3.To ensure clearly developed strategic agreements for client individuals/groups are identified and agreed upon to include admission, developmental and conclusion objectives to correspond with time span of client journey within other Marylebone Project areas.

2.4.Contribute/attend client multi disciplinary meetings as and when required

2.5.To contribute relevant information re fundraising bids and maintain adequate systems and records reflecting achievements/outputs to support such bids.

3.To develop employment opportunities and employer relationships appropriate for Marylebone Project Clients and to also ensure client training within the MIM enterprise is relevant and appropriate to the needs of would be employers.

3.1.To identify training needs of staff/clients relevant to development and the Projects statutory obligations and make recommendations to the Marylebone Management Team for implementation, implementing the outcomes in a well timed manner.

3.2.To convene and coordinate regular steering group meetings, to foster good communication across the Marylebone Project and to ensure staff are briefed on current issues and policies.

3.3.To select, recruit, induct and train clients and staff. To coordinate a consistent client focus and ensure that all relevant information is shared with appropriate staff teams.

3.4.To ensure training, education and development records for clients are maintained and that such training is relevant to future employment opportunities.

3.5.To develop and maintain healthy employer relationships that will present future employment opportunities to employment ready clients. To ensure development and training of clients is appropriate to needs of employer

4.1.To be a member of the Project’s Management Team, participating in the overall management, development and monitoring of the Marylebone Project and its policies and procedures.

4.2.To encourage the development of a clear Christian ethos amongst the clients and staff of the Marylebone Project.

4.3.Produce annually Marylebone SMT approved business development strategy/plan and ensure implementation of the proposed strategy/plan is achieved within agreed timescales.

4.4.To have an in depth comprehension of the social entrepreneurial sector and ensure an awareness of sector developments. Key relevant relationships to be established and maintained.

4.5.To develop the enterprise and its income, retaining existing and attracting new customers, ensuring a high profile is maintained within relevant communities and good reputational image amongst customers is achieved.

4.6.To maintain adequate financial records and submit timely and ordered information as required

4.7.To identify, monitor and manage customer satisfaction, own and action complaints resolution and make reviews for learning and improvements when complaints arise

4.8.With current and future enterprise activity to actively ensure adequate documented risk assessment(s) are carried out, shared with relevant parties and all relevant risk management and control measures are adhered to.

4.9.Understand relevant legislation and ensure all areas of Social Enterprise are fully compliant with legal requirements.

4.10.Ensure all communications are of a high standard and where necessary approved by the required management structures before release.

4.11.Organise relevant events with a view to creation of enterprise development opportunities and sales

4.12.To ensure staff & volunteers are aware, engaged and buy in to the MIM Social Enterprise. As part of this to deliveran increasing proportion of clients who are signing up and participating in Social Enterprise.

4.13.To act as a specialist reference for supporting colleagues and clients within Social Enterprise and provide relevant social impact outcome measurement(s) when required.

4.14.To act as cover for the catering coordinator.

5.General

5.1.To carry out any other reasonable tasks which are commensurate with the post at the direction of the Marylebone Project Manager

5.2.At all times to work within Church Army and the Project’s policies, including those relating to Supporting People, Housing Corporation, UK Employment Law, Health and Safety, Finance,Computer Use and Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults. To be familiar with these policies, to ensure that all staff are familiar with them and able to implement them both in their work and in their relationship with other staff members.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification related to Social Enterprise management.
Experience
History of senior management level of managing successful Social Enterprise(s) / Recent senior level management experience in the voluntary sector supporting multi-disciplinary team.
Significant Managerial experience / Conflict management
Successful entrepreneurial social enterprise experience
Knowledge
An understanding of administrative systems, finances, accounting, personnel and compliance.
Skills and Abilities
A strong team player with good communication skills / Desk top publishing software skills
Well organised, methodical and capacity to perform and deliver under competing priorities and pressures
Strong IT skills with expertise in Microsoft Office.
The ability to think and act strategically and assist in setting long-term priorities

A passion for and a commitment to empower homeless women to move out of the cycle of homelessness and to build their self-esteem and practical skills to enable them to gain meaningful employment as part of resettlement into the community. / An active member of a Christian church.

Able to be a visible and approachable manager who earns respect within Marylebone Project and externally.
Willingness to work unsocial hours including weekends as required.

An important part of the Project is the women-only Day Centre, from which men areexcluded during the times when it is open to clients. A man cannot be appointed to this role. This position is exempt under Section 7 (2) (b) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

Outline Terms and conditions

1This post is based at the Marylebone Project’s hostel in Marylebone, London

2This is a full time post (40 hours per week). Flexibility with regard to working hours may be required.

3This is a fixed term contract for 12 months

4The post is subject to a three month probationary period.

5This post is subject to a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) enhanced check.

6Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus public bank holidays.

7The salary will be £32,377 per annum

8There is a contributory pension scheme open to all employees, which staff are eligible to join after sixmonthsservice.
