Rate Centers

The following documents represent information sent to Common Interest Group on Rating and Routing (CIGRR) members by the Telcordia Routing Administration (TRA) group regarding RateCenter changes. Changes could reflect consolidations, renaming, etc. Filenames are in a format of state-RC-ENdate.doc. Newly created Rate Centers, unless part of a consolidation effort, or impacting many Business Integrated Routing and Rating Database System (BIRRDS) records, are generally not noted.

TRA has paper documentation on rate center changes going back to at least 1997 and probably earlier. We will consider providing a listing of these changes if requested by the FoN WG.

The documents below are listed with the most current first. Other news and documents related to the industry and TRA in general may also be found at the documents page at

[1] Published weekly, Emergency Notifications (ENs) provide a means for providing expedited notice of NXXs that are reported "late" (based on industry timeframes for reasonable notification). Also included are certain network changes that data providers may feel require notification via this process. ENs are also a means for data providers to flag NXXs that customers have reported to be "hard to reach" (seem to be blocked). Information on Area Code jeopardy announcements, split and overlay details (e.g. dates, test numbers, contacts, etc.) are also noted. Current and future Area Code split information is also summarized and provided monthly as part of the EN process. "Immediate" ENs (IENs) are part of this process, follow the format of the ENs, but are issued between EN issuances, to report NXXs that have extremely short activation timeframes from the time reported to TRA.
