This Was the Month Full of Camps and Meetings

Monthly Report for the month of April and May 2008

This was the month full of camps and meetings.

The first camp was at Kalasa near Chikmagalur. The camp was organized by a school called Prabhodhini Vidya Kendra as a beginning of their English language speaking skills development programmes. The camp was between 2nd to 6th of April to coach the students of 8th and 9th standards. The 120 students were divided into two batches as morning and afternoon batches.

There were meetings with the heads of the schools to finalize the next academic year’s programmes.

Preparations for the summer camps began with the resource persons preparing the sample materials for the craft sessions. Before that meetings and purchases of materials happened to plan the activities for the camps.

The summer camps were held at two places. At Pinewoods school premises during mornings and at Nachiketa center for the government school students during evenings. Both the camps started on 21st of April and ended on 3rd May. On 3rd May there was a puppet show at Pinewoods school as a culmination of the camp. Totally in both the camps put together there were 44 students. Activities like chanting, singing, yoga, story telling, playing puzzles, playing and making of indoor games, greeting card making, drawing, painting, puppet making and show, craft work using thread and yarn, stitching and paper toys making were conducted. There was a library facilities also in Pinewoods center.

The first half of May was for the meetings between resource persons to discuss next year’s activities and the timetable at various schools. Preparation of sample materials also commenced after the meetings. There were reports prepared to be submitted to the Auditors. Reports were also compiled to apply for the prior permission to the finance ministry. Accounts work was also attended. From 16th May to the end of the month all the resource persons are taking a break.
