ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE FOR 2018

ADMISSION FORMS AVAILABLE FROM: 2 MAY 2017

REGISTRATION PERIOD: 2 MAY 2017 – 12 JUNE 2017

Please complete the application form IN FULL and ensure that you sign the contractual agreement on the last page.

Applications for Grade 1 must be done online via www.gdeadmissions.gov.za. You then have 7 days to complete further information forms at the school.

Application formsfor Grade R and Grade 2-7 can be submitted from 2 May 2017(no applications will be accepted before this date)along with a certified COPY of the following documents(copies cannot be made at our offices):

-Birth certificate

-Parents or Guardians Identity Documents

-Official immunisation card or proof of immunisation (polio, measles, tuberculosis, diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis B)

-Proof of residential address/Letter from work confirming employment

-Latest school report

Parents/Guardians of non-citizen

-Study permit in respect of learner

-Temporary or Permanent residence Permit from the South African Department of Home Affairs or evidence of application for such documentation

Who is the parent?

Parent means collectively the natural parent or guardian of the learner, the person legally entitled to custody of the learner, the biological parent of the learner or the person who undertakes to fulfil the obligations of any of the above persons towards the learners’ education at Houghton Primary.

Who is the sibling?

A sibling is one of two or more individuals having one or both parents in common.

Please ensure that you submit ALL of the above documents as your application will not be considered otherwise. Applications can be submitted by hand between 07:30 and 13:30 daily – no e-mailed or faxed applications will be accepted.

You will be handed a waiting list number on submission of your application forms.

Waiting list A - if you live/work in the Houghton area (please provide proof of residence / letter from work confirming employment) or if you have another child in the school. Being on this list is NO guarantee that your application will be accepted.

Waiting list B- if you live/work outside of the Houghton area. Please note that those on waiting list A are given preference and therefore your chance of acceptance is highly unlikely.

Closing date for applications is 12 June 2017. Waiting lists are submitted to the Department of Education for approval.

If your child has been accepted, you will be contacted with the outcome of your application from 24-28 July 2017. You will then be required to pay a deposit of R3000,00(which is deducted from the school fees) within 7 daysof the phone call to secure your place. If not secured within 7 days, we will assume you would not like the space and your place will be filled. If your child has not been accepted, you will receive a sms notifying you.

Spaces in Grades 2-7 become available if we have children who have informed us that they will be leaving Houghton Primary at the end of 2017. If no children are leaving, there will be no spaces. Therefore even if you are number 1 on waiting list A or B, there is no guarantee that your child will be accepted – please also apply at other schools.

LATE REGISTRATIONS: 13 JUNE 2017– 20 OCTOBER 2017

Late applications will start from 13 June 2017–you will be given a late registration waiting list number. Please note that your chance of acceptance is highly unlikely and youwill only be contacted if your child has been accepted.
