Work plan Activity / Activity Description
1 / Commit to fully implement one or all of the following Agricultural Career Pathways: Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and/or Ornamental Horticulture.
2 / Form a strong collaboration, documented in a formal agreement, with secondary education, agriculture business, and other agency partners to create a link with industry work based opportunities for students. i.e.: Job Shadowing, Internships, and/or Cooperative Work Experience.
3 / Inform, empower, and encourage local Agriculture Advisory committee members to be active participants in the establishment, improvement and expansion of Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture pathways.
4 / Develop and implement recruitment strategies to recruit students into the career pathway representative of the overall school population.
5 / Provide dedicated and highly qualified Agriculture professors to collaborate with secondary education and industry partner(s) to develop career pathways that will provide students with a seamless transition from high school to postsecondary education, employment and or training within the chosen pathways of Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture.
6 / Identify appropriate credit-bearing college courses that are articulated, can be offered as dual enrollment, and/or credit-by-exam, with credit recognition on e-transcripts in Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture that prepare students to enter postsecondary education without need for remediation and prepare them for college level work.
7 / Negotiate agreements with participating secondary education agencies to support dual enrollment and/or early admission to aligned pathway programs in Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture
8 / Collaborate with secondary educational and industry partners to align coursework with relevant technical skills and workplace competencies, as defined by industry allowing students to earn industry validated and accepted certifications in Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture.
9 / Establish opportunities for all pathway students to:
  • Accelerate into postsecondary courses while still in high school.
  • Participate in appropriately sequenced work-place experiences to make informed choices among postsecondary options.
  • Participate in activities to develop personal career readiness skills which are required for success in the workplace.

10 / Provide pathway teachers release time for relevant, ongoing professional development including support and frequent opportunities for reflection and collaboration during the school year.
11 / Facilitate student activities to develop personal career readiness skills, i.e.: CDE Field Days, Leadership Conferences, Leadership competitions, portfolio development, job shadowing, work experience, internships, entrepreneurial ventures, etc.
12 / Maximize available funding streams (in addition to the grant funding) to support the needs of participating students within the career pathway.
13 / Provide the program staff with the necessary data and access to student data systems for reporting information required by the grant in a timely and consistent manner.
14 / Financially sustain the program and the Central Region Agricultural Education Career Pathway Consortium efforts beyond the funding cycle of the grant.
15 / Develop and maintain a webpage specifically to promote and inform the Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture pathways.
16 / Prepare and submit all reports, invoices and documentation that support project activity and funding in a timely manner, as requested by Grant Director and funding agency.
17 / Attend project meetings to develop the Agriscience, Agricultural Mechanics, and or Ornamental Horticulture pathway development and further the Central Region Agricultural Education Career Pathways Consortium goals.
