HRE20 Culminating Activity:

Christ in Culture

This semester we have discovered that Christ is very important in today’s culture. However, we have also come to the conclusion that it is often difficult to sort through the overwhelming cultural pressures that we face daily to find Christ and keep Him sacred in our lives. Thus, for your course culminating activity I pose you this question:

As a young Christian, how can you help make Christ more accessible in our culture?

Your Task:

Using the unique talents and gifts God has given you, create something that promotes the saving power of Christ to young people in today’s tumultuous culture.

Here are some examples you might like:

·  Are you a talented story teller? Make a new version of the real Christmas story (or another Gospel story) for Children/Adolescents to enjoy.

·  Are you a talented musician? Write a new hymn or song to spread the message of Christ in today’s culture.

·  Are you a gifted public speaker? Write a speech about what it means to be a young Christian today.

·  Are you good at doing research projects? Research a religious or social justice issue or person and make a bulletin board/PowerPoint promoting learning about the subject.

·  Are you an artist? Create a series of posters encouraging young people to be proud of and share their religion.

·  Are you an athlete? Create a proposal for a sports league that promotes Catholic Values for young people.

·  Are you a journalist? Research and write a story for the school newspaper about a teen issue related to Religion.

The above are all acceptable projects but if you have an original idea please see me about it. Everyone, regardless of which topic she/he picks, must consult with me by, Monday, April 19 to finalize the details of your project regarding lengths and other qualities. Your project is due on Friday, May 28 at which time you will present it to the class. This project is worth 15% of your mark.
