The President recommends that:

MOTION

"The Academic and Student Affairs Committee recommends that the Board of Regents approve the Associate of Applied Science in Outdoor Leadership at Prince William Sound Community College. This motion is effective February 17, 2011."

POLICY CITATION

Regents' Policy 10.04.020 – Degree and Certificate Program Approval, states "All academic and certificate program additions, deletions, major revisions, and offerings of existing programs outside the State of Alaska will be approved by the Board of Regents." (02-16-96)

RATIONALE/RECOMMENDATION

Reference 7 contains the rationale for approval of this program. University administration will review the proposal with members of the committee.

B. Approval of Bachelor of Arts in Film at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Reference 8

The President recommends that:

"The Academic and Student Affairs Committee recommends that the Board of Regents approve the Bachelor of Arts in Film at the University of Alaska Fairbanks as presented. This motion is effective February 17, 2011."

A. Report on Alaska Higher Education Policy Center at ISER

Provost Driscoll will provide a report on the Alaska Higher Education Policy Center.

B. Status Report on SB221

Associate Vice President Oba will provide an update on SB221 the legislation that created the Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) and also authorized two task forces - the Advisory Task force on Higher Education & Career Readiness (HECR) and the Joint Legislative Higher Education Scholarship Funding Task Force.

In addition, AVP Oba will provide a briefing on the UA Fall 2010 Closing Enrollment Report.

C. Status Report on SB241 and the Teacher Education Plan Reference 9

K12 Outreach Director Hill will provide a status report on SB241 and the Teacher Education Plan.

D. Status report on UAA Accreditation

Provost Driscoll will provide a status report on UAA Accreditation.

E. Report from the Vice President for Academic Affairs

Vice President Julius will update committee members on projects and issues of interest.
