Project: To understand nature of diversity in lac insects of Kerria spp. in India nature of insect x host interaction.

·  Characterization of lac insects especially at intraspecific level to facilitate genetic improvement programs.

·  Phylogenetic study of 48 lac insect lines based on the sequences of house-keeping genes, 18 S rDNA and Elongation Factor alpha.

·  Diversity study of 48 lac insect lines by EPIC PCR using various gene sequences such as, ATPS α, Cathapsin, Myosin, opsin S7 Ribosomal protein genes.

·  De novo transcriptome sequencing of Indian lac insects using NGS techniques (454 and illumina).

·  Initialization and finalization of research proposals, various research activities, field experiments and management with different treatments as required. Preparation of specifications, technical summary reports, analytic data review, etc.

·  Identification of issues, formulation of hypotheses, implementation of recommendations and solutions. Coordination with colleagues and subordinates to get the work done effectively.

·  Microbiology/ Molecular Biology: Preparation & maintenance of various culture media, Biochemical & molecular identification of microbes, Gel electrophoresis, PAGE, DNA/ RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, transformation, in vitro mutagenesis, Restriction digestion, Ligation, Plant tissue culture.
