Gwen StirlingMBA, CIPD, AMED

Gwen draws on her experiences as a senior leader for one of the world’s most recognised brands and as a leader of youth development expeditions in a country which is 95% desert. Sharing her stories of findingher own leadership style and those of others in the fast moving commercial world provides a stark contrast with the learning tales of leading young people whilst overcoming the harsh physical and psychological challenges presentedby living and working alongside remote African tribal communities. This diverse background creates a rich depth of experience to offer clients.

With an MBA from Ashridge Business School; over 20 years commercial experience; and over 15 years experience of developing people, Gwen is passionate about developing organisational and leadership capability to enable organisations to have a real impact in the work they do, building collaborative partnerships between sectors which add value.

Through her bespoke consultancy “Discover Development” Gwen has designed and delivered leadership, change management, organisational development, corporate responsibility, and collaborative leadership programmes across the business, public and charitable sectors. She combines facilitation, coaching and storytelling techniques with powerful change models to work with individuals and groups to bring about personal and professional transformational change.

Her consulting clients include: British Airways, BG Group (British Gas), Unilever, Tesco, Royal Mail, Business in the Community, Marks & Spencer, NHS, DCSF, Local Authorities, Weston Spirit, and UK Commission for Employment and Skills.

Her international work for the Centre for Excellence in Leadership has taken her to Oman and Singapore. As Programme Director – Oman she headed up a major transformational leadership development and change programme for the Ministry of Manpower. In the UK she has supported Local Authorities, Children’s Trusts, and education consortia to transform educational and learning opportunities for young people through the 14-19 Reform Programme.

Gwen is continuing to learn and lead whilst out on the water, an enthusiastic sailor and racer she can be found out on the Solent in most weathers – preferring the sunshine to the rain!
