The Community

The Riverton Community Unit District #14 has over 1602 students enrolled in grades K-12 with a 36.4% poverty rate. The village of Riverton (pop. 3048) is a residential, rural district located east of Springfield, the capital city of Illinois. The school district encompasses 14 square miles.

Riverton High School is a four-year public high school located in Riverton, IL. The 2011-12 enrollment is 441 students, including 120 seniors. Riverton High School’s faculty is composed of 28 full time teachers. At Riverton, the student/teacher ratio is 16.2:1; our graduation rate is 98.3% and the attendance rate is 92.7%. The Riverton High School student body is a predominately white, middle income group of students. The school has a low income rate of 28.6% with a mobility rate of roughly 14.1%.

College Statistics

The class of 2011 had 80% of its graduates continue their education at post-secondary institutions; 42% - 4 year, 30% - 2 year, and 8% - technical. We also had 11% of our graduates serve our country by joining one of the various military branches.
