ACONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR GAIL BELISSARY FOR HER YEARS OF OUTSTANDING DEDICATION AND SIGNIFICANT COMMITMENT TO HEALTHCARE FOR CITIZENS IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to pause in their deliberations to commend the meaningful and lifelong work of Gail Belissary in the healthcare industry in our State; and
Whereas, with a bachelor’sdegree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina and thirtyfive years of nursing experience in coronary care, dialysis, and medicalsurgical nursing in Florence, Gail Belissary was one of the original founders of Home Health, Inc., which later was sold to McLeod Regional Medical Center; and
Whereas,Ms. Belissary and her daughter Karen Belissary founded New Generations Home Care, Inc., which opened for business in 1998 with clients in eight counties and which remains a familyowned and managed business; and
Whereas,as its reputation for quality care spread, New Generations Home Care, Inc. steadily grew and now serves hundreds of clients in eighteen counties with offices in Florence and Bluffton; and
Whereas, one of the largest operators of Adult Day Centers in the Palmetto State,New Generations, Inc. has facilities in Florence, Hilton Head, Marion, and Ridgeland; and
Whereas, Ms. Belissary has more than twenty years of experience in nursing management, as well as home and communitybased services; and
Whereas, listed in Who’s Who in American Nursing, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society for Nursing, andshe served as the administrator for both New Generations Home Care, Inc. and New Generations Adult Day Center, Inc. for twelve years and continues to lend her expertise as a consultant; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful for the long and devoted healthcare service that Gail Belissary has given to the citizens of this great State and for her lifelong service to the healthcare industry. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Gail Belissary for her years of outstanding dedication and significant commitment to the healthcare of citizens in South Carolina and to the healthcare industry.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Gail Belissary.
